Angry Tint causes distortion and glares on rear window?

Ok, so I got my car tinted this past weekend.. What I was wondering was for those who also had their car tinted..

Do you have a glare on your rear window? When cars have their headlights on behind you, do you see ghost headlights where the defroster line are?? I have all hopes that they will go away once the tint has a chance to dry but I am not sure it will.. those with experience, please advise.

Also, I have noticed that the tint is kinda distoring the view, kinda like if you were looking through textured glass.. it appears to be little bubbles of water or something like that.. they seem to be going away but I don't know if this is something I should worry about or not..

Any ideas? Or am I just too picky?

give it a week. all the problems you described should go away

the only permanent problem is the visible stripes on the rear window. they use 2 or 3 peices of tint, and on sunny days you will see the overlapping points. no big deal though

but yeah, your ok

Ya when I did my windows, the Tint guy said give it a good week at least before all the moisture between the tint & Glass dries and seals prooperly before it starts to be clear -- until then it'll be hazy... and if its humid where u are (like it was here in ny yesterday UGGHHHH) it'll take a bit longer

I've had it take almost a month to clear on previous cars. This time of year give a week or two and it should be fine.

I had mine done a week ago today. It's looking better.

BTW - My read window was done in one piece. It was also recommended to let the car set out in the sun for the first couple of days to help with the process.

They used 2-3 strips for your back window? They used only 1 on mine.

And I know they used heat shrink because there was a Bimmer there just being finished and they were taking out the little bubbles with a heatsink gun.. pretty cool...

I guess I was being anal again.. but you know how it is when it comes to your car..

Thanks everyone for "clearing" that up for me.

I've had my metallic tint (formula one) for about a month and I still see PLENTY of ghost headlights at night where the defroster lines are. I am wondering whether I should take it back to the installer.

I was told that mine was done in 1 piece.

I just wish they could explain the seem in the middle of the window I can see sometimes...

That's ok though, at least they tinted over the WHOLE window including the grain part at the top. A lot of places won't do that.

In addition to the distortions in the rear window due to the tint, I've noticed that my view to the drivers side mirror is distorted. My dealer put the tint on before I bought the car last weekend, so I don't know if the view was distorted prior. Anyone else notice that?

    Otherwise, LOVE this car.

I think most, if not all tint shops do one piece for rear windows now.

I just got my tint done 2 weeks ago and they tinted the back window using 1 piece of tint. Also he went all the way to the top and covered the little black dots and he even tinted behind the 3rd brake light.
The guy who tinted my car did an AWESOME job on the area with the little black dots. It stuck perfectly! Ask Shoofin b/c he saw my car monday night.

the guys who did my tint do alot of honda and acuras for the bay area dealers. I mentioned the black dots to them and they said that there are a few windows where the tint just wont hold to that area.

Mine was done in one piece, and after the moisture dried up, its been great. Mines been on since October 98 and only recently have i seen really small lines near the defrost lines, cannot be seen when driving so no big deal.

Don't open/close windows until the film completely sticks to the window panes. Otherwise, they will start peeling off.

Give it 2 weeks. Park it in the sun. It will help in the curing process. Mine looks great until TLinKC tells me of a bubble I have in the Driver's side window. Now I see it all the time. damm..

I have the same film you have. I still see the ghost headlights. They're not that bad. They don't bother me that much.
