Timing Belt Replacement $390-Honda Dealer NJ
Have a 3G TL, but thought I'd post this over here if anyone might be interested. They ran this special a few months ago, and when I called, the service mgr. stated they would do Acuras for the quoted cost.
Hamilton Honda, Hamilton, NJ has a special again, but it expires 2/11/10:
Replace Timing Belt
Replace Water Pump
Replace Drive Belt
Includes parts and labor-$389.99
If Tensioner is needed add $75.00.
Can't beat this deal!

I will remind all that to ensure and insure your investment keeps running:
Replace all the tbelt tensioners and idler/roller bearings/pullies at timing belt/wp change
Its cheap to make sure it goes 100 on those rather than something old fail and cause massive engine destruction in 6 months or a few years

I'm at Hamilton Honda right now!! Gonna get the timing belt/water pump special for $389. They are still honoring that price. I live in Delaware and my usual service location is West Chester Acura but they quoted me a price for the service of $1380 min. and would not match Hamilton Honda. Just drove about an hour and a half to save $1000...sounds good to me! I've been a long time lurker on this site and figured I may as well post something. i really appreciate all the info. I will fill out the profile section soon but I have a 2003 NHB TL-S with 118,000 miles...1st tranny went at 75,000, 2nd one doing ok so far. Only mods are tint and a rear wing..looking for the oem lip kit.....

According to their website, the service specials currently listed expires 2/23/2010. This includes the $389 timing belt special.

I got a flier for timing belt service for a dealer here in VA for around the same price but was for the timing belt ONLY. I find it very hard to believe that the price you listed is for all of that.

holy shiz, i had timing belt, accessory belts, water pump, valve adjustment, coolant flush of course, power steering flush for $591 out the door from a mechanic hook up, so that service from Acura is a HELLUVA bargain!! In fact, the Acura dealer here quoted me just over $1000 to do a timing belt job wiht no new water pump, no valve adjust or other belts..I told them to pound sand...ridiculous

Looks like this deal is in their new ad which runs through 4/30. I'm going to have to call and setup an appointment soon. How much did they quote for the tensioner?
#27
tensioner and idler pulley are about 100 bucks, a must replace IMO as I intend the car to go another 100k before it needs anything more than another wp=tbelt job
#28
will print out that ad and see if my honda dealer will honor- that will give them a good laugh with a labor rate of 100 per hour..maybe 300 if I bring the parts from another local area dealer with $300 parts package special~
I thought I was at 90kmiles but really 99.7 and rising--where does the wife drive??!!
Better read the diy a few times and get the torque wrench calibrated

you can send the tool back to maker for calibration, maybe replacement of spring or just clean and adjust- this one is snap-on but other makers do the same thing
its best to store the torque wrench at 10 pounds setting to maintain slight spring tension, dont do that and expect 10-15 lbs off,
compared mine to tire store and I'm reading 15 light- not good!

I called them today to make an appointment the receptionist sounded like a little girl, and they kept passing the phone around, hold music kept restarting. Had to wait for a call back from Don. Are the parts that are not being replaced needed as he stated hydraulic tensioners tend to leak but our spring loaded tensioner rarely needs to be replaced, he also stated he has not seen many seals that also needed replacing? Is that the case or should I look somewhere else as a friend with a civic knows an independent mechanic who did her timing belt for $299 and probably would do my gf's TL for $400.
A Kit on Ebay calls for the following items to be replaced:
* timing belt
* water pump with gasket
* thermostat and gasket
* timing belt tension adjuster
* timing belt tensioner
* timing belt idler
* both accessory drive belts
* front crankshaft seal
* two front camshaft seals

Just got back from the dealer. Nice place, pretty big service area.
Anyway, they updated the deal to run through 4/30. And the TL is covered (I think I was the only Acura there this morning...)
Total $390 + $75 for tensioner + tax = $497
Pretty insane deal for dealer parts and labor.

When you say tensioner, do you mean automatic adjuster or the adjuster pulley
which has one of the pullets not covered under the $379. The other pulley is the idler pulley, #13.
The pulleys would probably never fail, but since one is "in there" already,
who wants to be a one-in-ten thousand statistic for a possibly ruined engine, over a bad bearing.
When I call for more info, I'll ask, "How much to add both pulleys?".

The "automatic adjuster" is what some shops call the tensioner #18. I'm guessing it puts pressure on the "timing belt adjuster",
