Thought it was a Type S...

hi all, here i thought for the past 2 years that i had a type-s on my 2002 tl just because it has a rear spoiler,an automatic and manual shifter transmission, and traction control.so i assume that the insurance card wouldn't state it or when putting in the vin on the acura owners website,it comes up only as tl.no insignia anywhere stamped on interior or shifter.when i bought it from my friend someone else of his looked at the interior and said it was a type-s ..i had to buy a power steering pressure line and i guess i bought the wrong one.mine has a banjo or whatever they want to call it type of fitting at both ends.what a bummer after ging through the motions to find out it was wrong...

That absolutely sucks. However, now you know to make sure of those things
That being said, I'm pretty sure all 2G TL's came with the same (defective) transmission (automatic with manumatic mode) from the factory, as well as the TCS (traction control system). We have a 2001 model (predates the P & S by a year), and according to the manual, those were both standard. The only reason for the spoiler I can think of is someone added an aftermarket one

Assuming no swap has occured:
If you have a J32A1 indicated at the 'Engine Number' location, it's a Base / Premium.
If you have a J32A2 indicated at the 'Engine Number' location, it's a Type-S.
