For those with Konig rims
I am about to order the 19'' Konig Tantrums with Nitto 555 235-35-19. I like to drive fast, who doesn't, but I am worried about bending or worping the rim....usually i am 50-60 main roads and 85-110 on the expressway. Do you think this will be an issue? Has anyone had any bad experiences with Konig and bending? I want to order them by the end of the week and want to make sure they are the ones for me
thanks for the advice

Is there any tool online to put in the dimensions of you old wheels/tires and tells you what specs u need to match the same tire diameter when u purchase bigger rims with a lower porifle tire? I don't have the time to do the math when playing with tire sizes...

as far as the ratio goes, i should be ok with those dimensions? i don't want the speedo messed up or odometer clocking more miles then i already have =)

hey there,
i had a set of konig caffeines (chrome) and they were 18's by 7.5 and they did not hold up to well, i only had them on for one summer before having to get rid of them, it seemed like they were to soft, but maybe that was just my experience, good luck with them.

Anyone have a pic of a TL with these rims, but without having the car lowered? I don't have the skirts all around and didn't plan on dropping the car, but want to see how it will look because that might be a requirement....i don't want huge gaps in the wheel well

The tantrums (along with a handfull of other immitations) are a cheap knockoff of the AVS model 7s which is forged (much lighter and stronger than cast). Don't blame me if you get the tantrums and a week later you see a million civics riding on the same rims.

well i guess it comes down to if you want to have the "prestige" of the brand name too. For example, would you rather have the real 3 piece Racing Hart C5 rims or a cheap knockoff like the "katana racing 5s" (no offense f=ma haha i had to use that example).

believe it or not, konig is moving up in the industry, with their forged rims. by the way, im pretty sure tantrums came out before model7. also, "katana racing 5s" they are made in the SAME building the C5 Evos are, believe it or not. u wanna noe a ripoff brand? tenzo-r

Ok, so after a few days thinking about the different rims and sizes I have come to a conclusion. Ever since considering rims I have been observing the actual road itself lately a lot more than normal and think that 19''s will get ruined due to all the pot holes, bumps in the road and various other road hazards and consideringi drive about 60 miles per day for work they'll be ruined in no time. So then I started to look at 18''s instead so I can have a little extra meat on the tires for some added protection. I was playing at discounttire and tirerack and was thinking 18*7 moda r3's with 215/45YR/18 Michelin Pilot Sports. I figured I could order these but the tires are back ordered so i was re-considering the Pirelli PZeros instead. Total price including mounting, balancing and delivery would only be $1800. Then I could pick up some springs from Tim and be ready to roll
Think that should do it?
I appreciate all your feedback (both positive and negative)
Also, btw, the difference between diameters between stock and new would be 0.26% too fast which was a closer match than my combo with the 19'' konigs

I have heard from many people that P zeroes are a little better than pilot sports (which are excellent tires as well). However, P zeroes will not last as long. you can also try the bridgestone SO2s which are nice. All of these tires are far superior to the other cheaper tires. During the first 1000 miles, you won't notice the difference as much but after that, you will be able to take turns like crazy. I'm very pleased with my investment of these high grade tires. My p zeroes don't even make a screeching sound even if i floor it from a dead stop. I can hear the rubber rubbing off on the pavement but it doesn't make the screech sound because of the excellent rubber compound it is made of.

I've been browsing some posts looking for what tires others have with their 18's and saw a few with the following:
225/40ZR18
Why did you go with this tire size? When playing with the overall diameter between stock and new I found that 215/45's where the best match without throwing off the speedo and odometer. Just curious...

i have a set of ecsta supra 712 (z rated version) on my maxima for the weekend, it is a great entry level ultra high performance tire, although not the best, it is the best for the money. on my other cars i am using yoko's avs sport s1 and pirelli pzero which are both great tires.
