Question For those with Konig rims

I am about to order the 19'' Konig Tantrums with Nitto 555 235-35-19. I like to drive fast, who doesn't, but I am worried about bending or worping the rim....usually i am 50-60 main roads and 85-110 on the expressway. Do you think this will be an issue? Has anyone had any bad experiences with Konig and bending? I want to order them by the end of the week and want to make sure they are the ones for me

thanks for the advice

Arn, it matches up very closely...
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revolutions Difference
205/60-16----4.8 in----12.8 in----25.7 in----80.7 in----785 / mile-- 0.0%
235/35-19----3.2 in----12.7 in----25.5 in----80.0 in----792 / mile-- -0.8%

Try this. I think it will help a lot.

My friend has Konig DTM's on a del sol. He cracked one by hitting a pothole on the high way. It cracked as in, it was cracked through. It separated. But that was probably one of those one time freak accidents.

Shouldn't be an issue. My friend has tantrums for a year now and drives everywhere...no problems.

What time do you drive that fast on the LIE. Either you work in Suffolk or you are obviously not driving between 7:30 a.m and 8:30 p.m

as far as the ratio goes, i should be ok with those dimensions? i don't want the speedo messed up or odometer clocking more miles then i already have =)

hey there,

i had a set of konig caffeines (chrome) and they were 18's by 7.5 and they did not hold up to well, i only had them on for one summer before having to get rid of them, it seemed like they were to soft, but maybe that was just my experience, good luck with them.

Question

Anyone have a pic of a TL with these rims, but without having the car lowered? I don't have the skirts all around and didn't plan on dropping the car, but want to see how it will look because that might be a requirement....i don't want huge gaps in the wheel well

It'll look like a 4x4 without a drop. There will be HUGE gaps in the wheel well without dropping.

nope, i've heard many a story about konigs getting cracked and damaged. You get what you pay for and if you buy the insanely crappy konig cast rims then you should be prepared for the worst.

~ 22 lbs and most konigs weigh more. Not to mention you're downgrading from stock enkeis to konigs.

the konig tantrums run 26lbs for 19''s so thats not a big diff. The reason I want those rims (in regard to your previous post) is because I like that look. Having the spokes go all the way to the end wihout having any rivets or anything looks sharp, IMHO

I can't believe that you still want these rims after two people (ONLY on this board) already said that they got konig rims damaged. Konigs are regarded by high class car owners as lowly, for civics, and for ignorant people who are just plain cheap in the world of aftermarket parts. The tantrums (along with a handfull of other immitations) are a cheap knockoff of the AVS model 7s which is forged (much lighter and stronger than cast). Don't blame me if you get the tantrums and a week later you see a million civics riding on the same rims.

konig didnt rip nobody, they actually had the design first. the rim you're looking at is advan model7, they are available in the states, try wholesale hyperformance. tell them "john from tulsa, OK" sent u. average price on them are:

17x8 around $430
18x8 around $510
19x8 around $620

my price might be off a little, but im going by last years catalog.

thats double the price compared to the konigs.....it might be worth it to get the tantrums and take my chances with bending/worping one then paying 2x the price for he same design. Decisions, decisions, decisions......

well i guess it comes down to if you want to have the "prestige" of the brand name too. For example, would you rather have the real 3 piece Racing Hart C5 rims or a cheap knockoff like the "katana racing 5s" (no offense f=ma haha i had to use that example).

I'm almost sure that konig ripped advan. Nevertheless, konig rips everyone. Look at the ugly konig monsoons which are a pathetic 1 piece immitation of the 3 piece volk AV3s. Look at the konig villains which try to be the SSR integrals, the elan which immitate enkei RF-1s. Not to mention, they have the crappiest names for their wheels -- one of them is called the "five-O."

believe it or not, konig is moving up in the industry, with their forged rims. by the way, im pretty sure tantrums came out before model7. also, "katana racing 5s" they are made in the SAME building the C5 Evos are, believe it or not. u wanna noe a ripoff brand? tenzo-r

Ok, so after a few days thinking about the different rims and sizes I have come to a conclusion. Ever since considering rims I have been observing the actual road itself lately a lot more than normal and think that 19''s will get ruined due to all the pot holes, bumps in the road and various other road hazards and consideringi drive about 60 miles per day for work they'll be ruined in no time. So then I started to look at 18''s instead so I can have a little extra meat on the tires for some added protection. I was playing at discounttire and tirerack and was thinking 18*7 moda r3's with 215/45YR/18 Michelin Pilot Sports. I figured I could order these but the tires are back ordered so i was re-considering the Pirelli PZeros instead. Total price including mounting, balancing and delivery would only be $1800. Then I could pick up some springs from Tim and be ready to roll

Think that should do it?

I appreciate all your feedback (both positive and negative)

Also, btw, the difference between diameters between stock and new would be 0.26% too fast which was a closer match than my combo with the 19'' konigs

I have heard from many people that P zeroes are a little better than pilot sports (which are excellent tires as well). However, P zeroes will not last as long. you can also try the bridgestone SO2s which are nice. All of these tires are far superior to the other cheaper tires. During the first 1000 miles, you won't notice the difference as much but after that, you will be able to take turns like crazy. I'm very pleased with my investment of these high grade tires. My p zeroes don't even make a screeching sound even if i floor it from a dead stop. I can hear the rubber rubbing off on the pavement but it doesn't make the screech sound because of the excellent rubber compound it is made of.

if you guys want good and cheap performance tires, get kumho ecsta 712, they are extremely good and the price is very reasonable.

I've heard that the Ecsta Supras aren't quite as good as the other high-performance summer tires. Do you use them, what's your opinion on them?

Just wondering, if ArN 2000 TL were to go with the 19s would there be rubbing if the car was lowered?

There is another memeber here with 19'' konig tantrums and 235/35's and has no rubbing even with the car being dropped. I am definately not worried about rubbing with the comptech springs (from tim) and the 18''s

Question

I've been browsing some posts looking for what tires others have with their 18's and saw a few with the following:
225/40ZR18

Why did you go with this tire size? When playing with the overall diameter between stock and new I found that 215/45's where the best match without throwing off the speedo and odometer. Just curious...

i have a set of ecsta supra 712 (z rated version) on my maxima for the weekend, it is a great entry level ultra high performance tire, although not the best, it is the best for the money. on my other cars i am using yoko's avs sport s1 and pirelli pzero which are both great tires.

Just found out that the 18'' Moda R3's weigh 26.5lbs. Thats what the 19'' konig tantrums weigh...but these are definately higher quality.

Quick Reply: For those with Konig rims
