im about to tint my windows on my black tls.
im not sure what % to go with... 25% or 35% smoke
and should i do the same % all round?

i say go with the same % all around.... looks better, and since you are NY, i would say go with 35% since its not too dark where you will get bothered by the cops.

I have 20% all around and it is pretty dark. Sorry, I can't post any pics.

 

I'm getting mine tinted this week, still undecided what % I'm going with. I also have to worry about the metallic effects on my Navi reception!

Oh well, my ride is screaming for some tint!

35, 30, 25 all the same... you really dont notice that much of a diffrence.. i have 35 and over the weekend my friend went out to do his tint and he did 25... you do see a little diffrence but not that big..... if i can do it again i would go with the 25... IMO.

Do you have any problems using your rear defroster with your tint? Had it done on my pony and first time I used the defroster - bubbles...

You are within the legal limit, in the daytime, you can see the tint slightly, at night, with a black interior, it might as well be limo tint.

jl_young is right... 35% is the legal limit for the sides. I have 35% on the sides and 20% on the rear. I love that combo b/c it makes the sides a tad darker, but it's still legal. Pics are in my sig... although I don't think I have any pics with the tint.... I have to update that....

I just got 35% all around put on today, and is it sweet!!! Cant go wrong with 35% all around. I didnt want to fool around with getting tickets. The law in Va is one can only have 50% on the front driver and passenger windows, which is soooo lame. So I am illegal but I think the cops have better things to do then pull over tl's with weak 35% tint. So I will inform the board if I get any tickets for having the tint. I would of loved to get 20% all around but thats a in VA.

 

20% is also a no no in FLA, but you have to have it, especially on a hot ass black car like mine. The way it looks depends on what color car you have, remember that tint always looks darker on a lighter color car. I also had 20% on my last ride (it was white) and it looked much darker then my black car.

 

How are these places installing the tint? With the window in place? I saw a shop that takes your windows completely out, tints them from top to bottom and then puts them back in. The process the used was pretty intense, nice finished product.

Ahh man, I'm getting 20% this Friday. I live in VA. I want it pretty bad, but damn, I don't want to get hassled by the cops with tickets and possibly having to remove it. I'd be throwing my money away.



But what the hell, it oughta look tight as $hit!~!!

 

ok i got the tint done.
i got 15% metallic smoke all round...i thought it was going to be too dark but its fine.
one problem is the back window...at night the headlights from the cars behind are blurry and it makes the headlights looks like they are 1 foot high maybe its because the tint glue hasnt dried properly yet.... we shall see
