Thinking of Purchasing OEM HID Kit
Hello everyone I'm new to this forum. I have a quick question, how hard is it to install the ballist and igniter. The reason why I'm looking to puchase the HID system is because my Acura 3.2 TL 2000 didn't come with them, when my parents bought the car. Im guessing they were stolen and the prevous owner decided to put halogens in. I found a set of the OEM on ebay what do you guys think.

Yeah that sounds kinda weird.... rebasing halogens to fit into the HID housing.... it's like doing an engine swap and getting a smaller engine.
As for swapping in the OEM HIDs, they're pretty expensive since you need to buy the ballasts and the bulbs. You might want to check the existing wiring and see if the existing wires can connect to the ballast. Odds are whoever did this probably cut off the socket that plugs into the ballasts and directly wired the halogen socket. In that case, you'd need a new ballast socket as well to go from the wires to the ballasts.

You could just find out what type of halogen bulb is in your car now (such as 9005, H4, H1, etc.) and buy a "plug and play" kit so that you don't have to redo any of the wiring or harnesses. It's like what people do for putting HIDs in the 2nd Gen TL's foglights.

Are u sure there isnt brand new HID bulbs in there that look like halogen. New bulbs tend to be more yellow for the first 100 hours or so. But they again still you cant really mistake them for halogens. Can u take pics of the housing and the back of the housing. Kinda gettin curious

There Definately Halogen bulbs. I was wondering is it possible that the prevous owner decided not to replace the HID bulbs, but instead decided to intsall halogens because it saved the person money. Also how do I check to see if there are even Ballists connected to the headlights. Are they screwed in at the bottom of the lights, and also how do I check will i have to take off the bumper?
I'll take some pictures tommorow of the headlights. It sucks right now cause one of the bulbs are burned out.

If they are halogen... find out what base they are. You don't want to buy OEM HID kit and then see that OEM kit don't fit because the changed the bulb socket on the housing. That would make you Uber mad.

i to am having this problem, I had my uncle's shop put in halogen, because of my buget after my accident. I have no ideal what socket they are but the wiring was cut right after the connector. I would think that it will be very costly to put hids in now. I think the plug n play is better. Again I do not know anything about this. But I would think that if you still have the wirinig for the hids, that there is still about of power for the plug n play, rather others that have halogen wiring with not much power.

Well recently there have been full sets of lights with the HID ballasts on this site. Just do a search ("FS Headlights") and you should find a better deal here than on ebay. I think they were $250....

Here Are the New Pics Please Help
Here are the new pics of the wiring to plug the halogen lights. I am in need of Help I do not know what to do. My Right side light won't work cause the wires melted as you can see in the picture. How much do you think it will cost to fix. Any suggestions would help.

Hey philly, you gotta give us the public access webaddress. It's usually http://community.webshots.com/user/"YOUR USERNAME HERE"
Could you make sure to take a picture of the (1)entire bulb (2)bulb writing and (3)the plug that connects to the bulb... I'm wondering because I think that's the best way we can help you. Also, I'm worried because in your previous pics.. I noticed what appears to be rewiring, so if you could show us the plug too. Worst case scenario, the wires have been altered to a state where you may have to use a HID conversion kit.

1. Check for ballast. To start off, feel underneath the headlight housing itself. The ballast, if you have one, should be a box (anyone chime in whether it's metal or plastic?) underneath the housing - a little bit bigger than an ipod. See this link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
If you have the ballast than you should be in good shape, and you only need to buy the bulbs.
2. Check the Housing. Take the halogen out, and look closely at the hole where the bulb goes into the housing. See if it's been cut or modified in any way. Another hint would be to check if the bulb's base has been modified. Hopefully the housing is stock, and you can just plug in a new HID bulb.
If the housing has been modified, you have two options. Get a new housing along with the stock OEM HID kit. Or get an aftermarket HID kit that has HIDs based to fit that bulb type.
3. Check the wiring. Follow the halogen bulb wiring. Does it go into a big bundle of wires or does it go into a connector? If it goes into a bundle, then whoever did this job just cut off the wires. If you found the ballast, check if it has connectors. If it goes into a connector and you have the ballast, check if they connect together.

Yeah.. crossing my fingers the mechanic didn't do a "Point-of-no-return" mod... that would mean you can't get OEM. The ballast should be a metallic/rectangular box below the housing. It can't be missed.
