Thinking?
Hey guys, i am from the 1st gen forum. Lately i been thinking of selling my 98 tl for a type-s, not sure what year though. Well i wanted to ask how are the parts for a type-s (aftermarket) and are there any real problems any of you guys incountered. Thanks in advance.......
Well, besides for the tranny issue (see sticky at the top of the forum)... there haven't really been any other major issues.
Coming from a previous TL you should have an idea of how the mods are.... headers, intakes, exhausts, pulleys, springs, sways, etc... all of the standard stuff. Plus the supercharger is due out any day now....

I have to say the even with the 2 tranny replacements that my TL-S has been flawless and I am very happy with the car. The quality, and performance that you get for $30k(+/-) is tough to beat. The interior of the car has a much larger feel than other cars in it's class.
Junriobean is correct there are many mods available that can give the engine much more HP, and you can do a lot with the tires/suspension. Keep in mind that if you really want a 300HP car that has been designed to be that way then you may want to look at other cars before buying a TL-S. If you plan on doing that much work, then a TL-P would be a better starting point. You are essentially getting rid of all the parts that make a TL-P and TL-S.

go for it. its a great car. Except for the tranny issue which covered by warranty, and headlight thefts in the NY, NJ area it is a solid car. drives great, great interior, great for road trips many features and best of all, when you floor it the car hauls a$$$$$. I say go to the dealer and test drive one to see for yourself.
