thinkin of buying a 2003 tls
i am thinking of buying a acura certified 2003 tls ... i know the transmissions are bad ... but if its acura certified does it mean that the transmission will be covered if it were to fail
also ... the new transmission put in the car ... is it any better than the original transmission? or is it just the same thing just a new one?
thanks

Also If the car has a tranny thats been put in after 02/05 then its a good one. Acura revised these trannys and nobody here with one of those trannys (me included) has had one fail yet.
On a side note if its a good price and mileage I say get the car becuase they are a really nice car. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I just bought an 03' TLS in November and brought it back to the dealer in 40 days because of tranny issues. They are replacing it as we speak..no questions asked! Mine is certified and also has the extened warranty. For my rental car they gave me an 07' TSX w/ Navi!!! I was so shocked. I still like the TL better.

yes i will get the 7 year 100k powertrain warranty ...
the car has 30k miles on it and is priced at 19k ... i was hoping i could bring that price down a little bit ...
i am also going to trade in my 2003 nissan altima 3.5 se v6 ... i was hoping i would get a decent price for it
the kbb trade value is 10k ... so if i could pay a difference of 7 or 8 thousand
i'll be happy
is it possible?

Although they do seem to be holding up well based on the forum member reports it might take a year or two for a clearer picture to emerge.

I have an 03 TL and love it! Gotg it for 17K and had 35K miles. Best car I have ever owned. I had a Lexus GS300 and I think the Acura is better running and has better pick up

i love the TL! especially when i blow away some Mustang GTs! I am on my second tranny and its still running fine just not as good as it was brand new..hondas are much higher quality and reliable than nissans..i had an 04 Nissan Titan 4x4 offroad..Acura (honda) > Nissan

I test drove a 01 BMW 330i and an Infinity G35. Lets just say I picked up the TL two days ago. Pre owned Cert, 44k miles. Silver 03 TL Type S w/ Navi for 17k. Its was tough, Im only 23 and the BMW or infinity has the "flashy" looks. But I made the right choice!
I dont think ANY CAR under 20k can touch this thing. I feel like gold driving this car.

As for whether or not to buy a type-S, DO IT!!! You won't regret it, trust me... overall, it's better than almost any Nissan you'll get because you have a combination of speed, handling, and luxury that blows away anything Nissan can provide (except the 350Z), or most cars for that matter... That car's faster than 95% of the cars out on the road and with a little extra money, it's gonna be ridiculous... Satisfaction guaranteed

I justgot o2 Tl type S and at first i had doughts untill i drove and fell in love with it. My previouse car was a 1995 Firehaw (firebird with a corvet engine) pushing 320hpw+ and 350torque, fast as fuUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuk white on white convertable 41k = CHICK MAGBET. but after i minorly damaged the car the insurance caled it total and so got 15k$ so i decided to get a TL. I LOVE THIS CAR, fast roomy and sexy.
my question i this: since i got the car from a dealer with no warranty does this mean i can't get a new transmision from acura?
and what is the diference in the regular TL an the Type S besides speed an handling, like what is modified?
