Exclamation ThermoBloc Update

Hey Guys,

Didn't know how many of you are interested in the ThermoBloc mod, but I've been working with Jonesi and Sean at Outlaw Engineering on getting us a bit of a discount.

Sorry, I didn't get the final heads up on the post, but act quick if you are interested.

Anyway, here is the link to the AcuraZine Black Market GB thread.

The phenolic materials used in the spacer kit is excellent at blocking heat transfer. The heat from the engine block will not transfer to the intake manifold and the throttle bodies as much, therefore keeping those components cooler. And when those parts are running cooler, it will help keep the intake air cooler, until it reaches the engine block. Cooler air = more dense air = more power. Besides, cooler engine is always good, as long as it's not too cool/cold.

I would highly recommend this modification -- I have it on my TL-S and I can tell it works. The intake manifold and the throttle bodies stay cooler, and people with more advanced engine management programs than mine (I'm only running a V-AFC II) have seen cooler IAT by as much as 10-15 degrees. The installation was a lot of fun, too.

Has any1 actually done a real dyno on this product rather than butt dynos?

Oh and reconnecting the Coolant bypass for the IM will not maximize the efficiency of this product since heat is re-introduced thru the coolant to the IM.

Too cold for the throttle bodies to ice up during the winter.

I will be reconnecting the throttle body coolant feed once winter arrives. Otherwise the freezing air (even colder due to wind chill) could ice up the throttle bodies.

Any time. You should definitely get it; it's a good modification for not that much money. Plus you will have fun and learn a lot during installation, should you choose to do it yourself. And I highly recommend doing it yourself.

you arent going to really gain any HP from this...you just wont loose as much after your engine heats up...but I can tell for sure the increased power after driving - so quit sitting on your hands and get it! cheep, easy, and worthwhile mod to do like PA has said

Guys, I need some advice. I order the 99 TL-P thermoblock spacer, but in my haste forgot that I had my OEM throttlebody bored out. Now with this spacer that I'm getting, should I still get the spacers for the 99 TL-P, or do I need to get the Type-S spacers? FYI, my big bore throttlebody is similar to what Kings Motorsports does (you send your OEM throttlebody in, and they just bore it out a little bigger). Let me know ASAP, so I can get in touch with Sean at Outlaw Engineering to change my order. Thanks in advance guys!

edit: on a side note, if I get the 99 TL-P spacer, can I use a dremel tool to bore out the spacer, in order to make it fit my big bore TB?

I would say take it off and get the exact inside measurment from your TB and tell OE about it. They are very good with helping you. Or, yes the material is like a very hard plastic composite, so I dont see a problem with using your dremel tool to open it up some (that may be the best thing to do anyway).
