Tensioner Recall

Hi,
Any suggestion if I should bring my car in for the tensioner recall that my vin number was included and was indicated in the acura customer link? Did everyone have this recall bring it in? Or any has this recall and did not bring it in?

Thanks much.

I brought mine in when I brought my car in for the tranny check and oil jet install. Might as well bring it in when you get your next oil change or major maintenance check.

tensioner recall

Thank you for your input. My car is seriviced by dealer since day one, and did have the oil jet kit installed, but for some reason they never mention about the tensioner untill I registered with acura customer link and found out. Is this something it has to be done? How long did your tensioner fix take? My 03 TL-S is 40k.

Thanks

Insider- I work for an Acura Dealer. T-belt Tensioner Recall #03-030 usually apply for some 02-03 TL, CL, and MDX. You can find the info at your dealer at no charge or Acura Owner Link Site.
If you are one of the vehicle, please go to the dealer ASAP. I am doing a TL with bent valve, besause owner didn't want to bring it to dealer until it get close to the T-Belt replacement time. The vehicle is only have 33K on it.
Defective Tensioner with leak it own oil and loose it tension and caused to jump timing. Not a good site to be seem.
Need Any Info- Just let me know or E-mail me at HondaDirect02@Aol.com

Why wouldn't you get it done? It's free. It will only take about 1 hour.

Is it that fast for them to fix? I thought it is taking all day. because if they don't give me a loaner, then I can't get to work. Tensioner is relating with water pump and timing belt, I don't know if they could get it done in one hour.

Thanks

Recall

I left the car for an oil change, trannny kit, and they also did the tentioner. All was completed with 5 hours. I am not sure exactly how long it took and I don't have the invoice to check.

I guess if your VIN falls within a range, it doesn't matter. Check the recall or contact a dealer or Acura Customer service

Id get it done. if it breaks, your engine is toast!

call them up and make an appt to have it done, and ask for a loaner at that time.

I make an appointment and did ask for a loaner but he said immediately without thinking that they don't have loaner. He said they do have shuttle. It is a recall and they don't provide loaner. To me, that is very bad.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I guess it's for US only maybe? I tried to login the Owner's Link and it says my VIN number is not valid... or could someone PM me the list of the VIN number please?

Thanks!

I have a 02 TL-S and when I logged on Acura Customer Service link, my car did not show a recall. Normal? Is the recall inclded on all 2nd gen TL's ?

id tell them to schedule an appt for the car when they have a loaner available. plain and simple. your car goes in for work, you want a loaner!

FWIW, my dealer told me that if the service will last longer than an hour, I get a loaner.

I'm pretty sure that only outstanding and recent recalls will show on your Ownerlink page. For example, my Ownerlink page had the tensioner recall on it for a few months and it said it was fixed. It now has the oil jet recall listed and it is listed as fixed as well but the tensioner recall isn't listed anymore.

JGsTL-S,

You don't necessarily get a new timing belt with the tensioner recall. I believe the belt is inspected and if it is still good then they don't replace it.

acutee,

If you aren't getting a loaner from the Acura dealer you're working with try going to another dealer. I always call ahead and schedule and appointment and state that I need a loaner and I have always been given one. Some dealers are too small to have a lot of loaners available although in those cases they're supposed to use Enterprise to get you a loaner.
