Unhappy Temperature Gauge High

Hello,

I have a 2001 TL and while I was driving today I noticed my temperature gauge was higher than normal. It got so high that I feared it was going to hit the red (it was very close). So I pulled over to a nearby Autozone and I checked my coolant which was low and I purchased some to refill it. I proceeded to go home and as I got home the gauge flew up again. When I turned the car off the fans kept spinning for what would be considered an abnormal amount of time. What should I do?

Thanks, fairly new to cars but would love any input or advise I could get.

You have a coolant leak somewhere and likely have air in the cooling system. It'll need to be bled out:
