Post Tell me what YOU want II

Ok I have read all your posts on what you think we should do with the forum.
I have tried to come up with something from your feedback, that I belive will make almost everyone happy

Here it goes.
Main
Gallery
Off Topic

Then I will make these Archieves: (read only)
Technical Problems and Solutions
Installation Instructions
Audio & Electronics
Wheels/Tires
Modifications
For Sale/ Wanted

You can all post on this forum (Main) on any Car related topic you want. After a certain amount of time, say drops to the 3rd page, useful posts will be moved into the appropriate Achieve.

Tell me what you think ?

I really don't think only three categories will be enough. It seems they will be so full of "stuff" that it will be difficult to find the interesting items.

Thumbs up

This maybe good or bad depending on the traffic... you should have the statistics on how much/little the other forums are used...

If all you get is 2-5 new posts a day on the ones you want to make read only than it should be fine... otherwise you might want to think about making them read/write...

Overall this should make for a very interesting and active forum and moderators should be able to do a better job of monitoring it, after some whipping of course...

What about the Type S,MDX, and CL forum? I think it is better with more forums because then you can read what you want to read about and not have to search through all these other posts to find what you want. If you want audio info or installation info or whatever you know where to find info for it.

Also, if a subject falls to the third page why move it in the first place? The point to moving topics before was to keep topics in their proper place. If they fall to the third page whats the point?

So you'll move everything to it's appropriate archive and we won't have to make the decision on which forum to post it.(Besides the three listed)

Sounds good. Most people hang out in Main and OT, anyway. We all know that the best way for people to read a topic is to post the link to it in the Main discussion. Now we won't have to.

I think this is a good idea. And if people will practice posting non-car related stuff to Off Topics I don't think there will be a problem with too many posts.

Sounds good Snook, looks like you really have read everyones concerns.
If the new way doesnt work out can you switch it back?
Ok and how long before everyone starts posting everything in just the main discussion b/c "no one goes to the other 2 forums"? lol

I think the archive date should be moved back to a week after its been last posted. Also if it is a hot or recurring topic, then let it stay in general forums, or maybe just move a copy of it to the archive, for instance the Cams, which discussion comes up every 3-4 weeks, and we get an update on it. Or Tein Coilovers, which will eventually come back. Or the Comptech Supercharger.

Also at a member's request, if new info is received, then the thread should be able to be taken out of archive and back into the main forum.

Otherwise, Tim, good idea for the forum, I like it.

It satisfies my request of a high traffic main forum.
