Tein S Springs
Tein S Springs
Going to start off by saying
YES I have looked at other threads for this but I want recommendations on Tein S Springs. I am going the spring way because I cannot afford coilovers at the moment. Tein promises that the car will ride better and the springs will not harm the OEM equipment.
Does anyone have experience with the Tein S Springs? or even the H Springs?
I want to get them when my car gets out of the shop for IA (got hit by a mini van
)

what is your goal with the rim size?

Since you're going to blow the stock shock pretty quickly with the STech springs, you may want to look into a shock like the Koni Yellows. Keep in mind, the cost of the springs combined with a set of Koni Yellows is actually more than an entry level set of TEIN coilovers with our sale pricing!

if its a choice of new spring and shock versus coil-over which is new spring and shock with a threaded outer section of the main shock body.
The lower spring perch moves up and down on that threaded shaft = adjusting the cars ride height / drop
Go with the coilovers and if budget allows- the flow rate adjustable ones
Teins are built to be run in that lower section of shock travel and allow the normal full range of travel, that's what's different from `plain` setup, the kind that blows our old stock shocks because its below their smooth operating range= strains seals and blows out!
Teins are made special inside or ?? I'm not an expert, just know mine are fun and the wife likes them.
She drives the car a lot harder than I thought... after inspecting brake pad wear~
As the older guys can attest: Happy Wife = Happy-enough Life for you
Don't forget your lady or man this valentines!!
or suffer the seething unspoken wrath that will be your next few weeks

I had a feeling this would be slightly overwhelming...what I want is for my car to be lowered enough to look good and clean with a set of aftermarket rims/tires so I can take her to car meets (Import Alliance this March woohoo) but at the same time being able to drive her almost daily without horrible drive rate and risk of breaking stuff. I've heard people say "Oh get springs I have put over 10k on my blah blah springs and they work great" while others say "get coilovers and spend the extra money cause you can break stuff with springs"
complete noob at lowering cars considering my Integra came lowered so I never bothered learning about it all :|

A buddy recommended me to Raceland coilovers which I have seen some reviews for some on other model cars and they seem to be decent for the price and give a good amount of drop. I looked up how much they would be to buy +'shipping and they only run me for about $450. I mean it's just a suggestion bc in my opinion if you don't like the drop from springs you can't really change it up as with coilovers. I have kept my eye out for decent coilovers like Megan racing & f&f and d2 but for a good amount of money without blowing a whole lot for coilovers, you can take a good look at raceland coilovers.
wait- is this the car that involves mom being driver or passenger?
Maybe take a ride in a few local ziner cars to see how they actually ride
before committing to lowering the car at all
At the car shows- a very clean stock car is appreciated as much or more as a poorly lowered and hacked up fenders car
The car show is a great place to get some free test drives/rides on different systems
ck the REGIONS link to find ziner events in your area. PM a few people and learn a lot!
I took a ziner with a totally stock TL for a ride in mine, suffice to say he noticed a difference in flatness in cornering and quick lane maneuvers, wanted the same but knew the wife drove it more than him = not gonna happen

you are going to wear out parts- not radically break stuff (except stock shock oil seals)
regardless of coilover or cut/lowered springs on stock or aftermarket shocks
The change in steering part and driveline angles puts stresses on their bushings bearings and steel = in ways never intended by the designers
There are parts of higher quality- meant for racers- that will last longer
but low is low and that cost money,, in tire wear--did we mention how the tire edge gets eaten when lower and camber goes negative??? If I get 25kmiles on fronts Im happy
rear tire life about the same, as the camber is worse there, unless you spend more money on camber kits!!
