Question Technical Service Bulletins

Now that Alldata.com has been asked by Honda/Acura to deny public access to their TSB's, are there any other sources for this info? I would like to be aware of any and all potential problems with my new car.

click on Technical Service Bulletin.

This is the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin folks. Let see Acura tell 'em to deny public access

Alright, don't say all our tax money goes down the drain...

Whoa, did you see the "VSA Activating Too Soon" TSB on the 02 TLS on that site? What's that about?

Yea, what's that about?

I've printed both the technical issue with the VSA and the recall notification on the seatbelts. I know that my car was on the light by late April....so i want to know if it was fixed. I'm taking the print outs to the dealership on my next visit.

You can check the dates on the seatbelts themselves, they are on the female side of seatbelt, down close to the anchor point. You may need to pull the seat back a little from the center console to see them.

I purchased mine in April and the seatbelts were not on the recall notice.

I'm paying my dealer a visit today to ask if they would resolve some issues, including:
  • Left-side door alignment is poor compared to right-side (I guess the worker working on the right side of the assembly line deserves a raise)
  • Paint on my trunk lid is "blotchy", seems to be a problem in the paint itself
  • The VSA TSB above
  • The seat belt recall

Any other issues I should bring up? Does the windshield wiper smearing problem apply to 02 vehicles?

Trust me you'll know if it's a problem. It smears pretty bad and it's hard to get off. If you've used your washer/wipers and haven't noticed it, you're probably fine.

Guys dont freak out that TSB's exist for our cars, all cars have them, they are different than recalls and many less cars woudl be affected by it than even a recall would. All a TSB is a known fix for a problem that may be somewhat common thats all. Not all cars will be affected, and if you arent having a problem, going into the dealer to have them reslove the TSB is pointless really.

Ah, you too, eh (door alignment)? I just got my TL-S back from the dealer today; they tried as much as they could to get it realigned. Got it almost perfect but it's still off (but barely--you have to get a ruler to measure). Oh well, at least there's no wind noise now so I guess I can't complain. FWIW--the '01 TL that I got as a loaner car had the same door alignment problem.

I think the guy working on the left side of the car at the assembly line has a drinking problem, while the guy working on the right side carries a micrometer in his pocket

Anyway, Superior Acura fixed the door alignment problem in minutes. Nice looking doors now, and no creaks or wind noise!

It used to be that if you closed all the doors and looked down the side of the car from the back end you could see the doors "gape" from the body by about 1/8 inch.

I have the same problem, too. Asked dealer about it... Dealer say "It can't be done"... F@#$..

Anyways, as for VSA/TCS... I kinda like how my works. It actually allows a bit of wheelspin before cut-in and apply the brakes...... you guys getting the same thing??
