I had tar on my my car then got it quickly taken off with bug and tar removel. Afterwards the tar left a stain like a brownish color it seems stained on the car. What can I do to take it off?

Thanks

what kind of bug and tar removal didya use? maybe u didn't let it soak long enough? i spend a long time scrubbing tar off a bug and tar sponges with the mesh around it and i use my car wash solution. the staining u got is just the tar smearing. of course u could just use your nails but that's messy. just pick up one of those sponges for under a buck. i'm gonna try one of them turtle wax sprays to speed up the cleaning next time.

I got that **** on my car too and i can't get rid of it. I had asked on the forum before too but I didn't get any replies a while back so I don't know. I had 3 spots, 2 of which were pretty large 4" long... i was crying since the car was like brand new.

This is going to sound funny as hell, Try a little of Skin so soft, I didn`t studder. Rub it over the stain and keep on rubing till it`s off. Do not use any type of scrub type brushes or pads. Just your fingers. Then wipe it off, then wash and wax the area! Belive me living in GA you get to see a lot of tar! Good Luck!

I had wiped it all down and even tried soaking it for a while. I got all the tar and stuff off (or it looked like tar, sticky and gooey) but it left a brownish stain of where it used to be.

to get it off

Use a clear coat safe rubbing compound like 3M Finesse it II or Meguiars Body Scrub -

Or - you can try this - use Vinegar (distilled clear kind) on a clean cotton or Microfiber cloth. Take the cloth, around your finger and get some vinegar on it (full strength), then wipe the spot, let it sit for a second (cool to the touch car!!) then use the dry clean part of the cloth and wipe to remove...follow with a Quick Detailer.

OK... I've tried all that crap, with bug and tar removal, but ur right it leaves that brown stain afterwards. Now, I use Mothers Polish and let me tell you its F'n AMAZIN!!! Its no more than 10 bux for that bottle. The bottle is red in color and I think it has a picture of a corvette on it. I guarantee you that will take off the tar and even the remaining brown **** stain that the tar leaves. GET IT, USE IT, AND TELL ME HOW IT WORKS!! I've attatched a picture of the bottle so that you guys will know when you see it! IM TELLING YOU IT WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS w/ the stains or even surface bumper marks that leave black streaks on ur pain. You'll be amazed at all the things it can remove! TRY IT, thas the only advice I can give you.

And TLNY, I can almost guarantee you it will remove the stain for you.

Your nails are made of enamel which is harder then the clear coat which protects your paint.Anyone here remember the guy who scracthed the spot on his car all the way down to the primer with his nails on his brand new TL last year at the shore meet ?

hmmmm

Teeth are enamel nails are made from the protein Keratin (hair too). It is similar to how hair grows with a root but the proteins are sort of scaled over tightly like very tight fish scales...

Thus ends the science lesson for today

it doesnt hurt the finish. just wash it after your done just like you would after using bug and tar remover (which is mostly the same as diesel fuel) but cheaper and more effective.

Wow...The polish didnt work?? Im so shocked!! Make sure u apply it on the cloth and let it soak to a haze and then rub it off nicely and hard.

By the way, the diesel fuel idea, I tried it long time back and it does work. My car wash guy suggested it to me. I used gasoline though, and did the same thing.. so try that!

Yeah sounds like a bunch of $h!t but he's right...diesel fuel or gas will work like a charm. The only thing to remember is that while it's taking off the tar/dirt/bugs, it's also completely stripping your paint of any wax/polish used to protect your paint.

With the winter coming (and it's gonna be a bad one I think), just remember to wash the car well and polish, then wax thoroughly after removing the tar...

GOOD LUCK

well

it CAN hurt your paint - but probably not if used just to remove stains and then wiped off - Diesel, and Gas are solevants - like Vinegar is an Acid - both can damage the paint if left on - one you smell like pickels the other you smell like ..well ..Diesel

what about Goo Gone? i know some people here use that stuff when debadging, so it's safe for cars. maybe someone with it can give it a try and report back?

i also saw this today...
http://automotive.gojo.com/products/...nge_pumice.htm
it's a hand cleaner and it says on the bottle that it will remove tar too. if it's safe for your skin, it must be safe for your paint?

as per my good friend, google, pumice is a light, porous volcanic rock that forms during explosive eruptions. now it makes sense that u'd need sth abrasive to get tar off your hands.

I really want to know too. I've tried many different things including goo gone, soaking it and all, all those polish and stuff. It doesn't do the job.
