Tanabe Hyper Medallion Catback Installed!!

Had some spare time today at work and got to bring the bpipe to the exhaust shop to extend 2.5". The exhaust is from a 98-02 Accord Coupe. Other than the extension, I had to play with the rear hangers a tad bit to make the exhaust fit right, but it was easy with a couple of taps with a hammer.

Here's a quick shot I took with my iPhone...

Overall, I like the exhaust, it is a tad bit on the loud side while accelerating, but once cruising at a constant speed, it's fairly quiet. BUT it sounds great and the tone is nice and deep!

Sound clip and more pics to come when I wash my car!

Well after a couple of days of driving around town, the exhaust can get loud when going up hills and around the 2200-2700 rpm range. I saw on Tanabe's website that they sell universal silencers for the exhaust and I think I'm going to be looking into these. I just emailed Tanabe about pricing and application, so I"ll report back here when they reply to my email!

Here's a link to the product...
http://www.tanabe-usa.com/baffle.asp

I'll probably be painting these flat black and pushing them as far back as possible into the muffler to they won't be as noticeable.

And since I got the catback from a local friend for only $170, investing in these silencers won't too too bad on the wallet. Hopefully Tanabe can hook me up with pricing! =)

good idea to hide the mufflers as much as possible, IMO mods that are subtle are the best kind of mods

Let me know if you actually hear back from Tanabe. I sent them an e-mail to their info address, and I haven't heard back from them in over a week. I have the same model exhaust with the smaller diameter tips.

I'm experiencing leaks and hardware problems, so I just wanted gaskets and bolts from them directly, and other info they might have on why I'd be having so many leaking issues.

You Can get gaskets from the auto parts store.

And as for the silencers, I think I might be going with the HKS version of the silencer. It's half the price and already painted flat black. As long as the silencer diameter is the same as your exhaust tip, it'll be ok. My tip is 115mm

I know that auto parts stores have gaskets, I'm just looking to get all the correct hardware to factory spec.

No, you're right, there isn't. But I just assume get in touch with them, and speak to a rep about all the issues I'm having and get all that junk from one place instead of having to run around town to find it all.

Part stores in my area are a joke, and they are run by know nothing twits. Only when my friends are at work do I have any luck.
