Arrow Tale of the haunted TL

Hello TL forum, I come from ACL.com, but my mom is a TL owner. Ever since she bought her 99 3.2TL, there has been a whining/humming sound when the car is parked (not running, nobody inside, etc.). The sound is low, not loud, but audible from several feet away and each one lasts for about 2-4 seconds. We feel this is a small ODD problem. We first heard it when we were sitting outside on the porch eating. We took it to the dealer and they heard nothing of course. If anybody here could help, that would be great! Thank you!

No it's stock. haha! I can't see my Mom putting any mod's on her car. That would just be too funny.

P.S. The "sound" is similar to the sound from moving the seats, but much louder and coming from the outside.

Does it occur after it has been driven and then parked or while it's been sitting in the driveway all day or both?

LMAO. My 1998 Honda Accord V6 does this, has done it since I bought the car and still does. It drove me ****en nuts. I took it to Honda and they were not aware of the problem but did find out from Honda that it was the releasing of pressure of gas. Now many of the components, between my Accord and your Mothers TL are the same. In short, Honda said it was normal. I said to them, what am I at a Chrysler dealer. Anyway, my Accord has well over 100,000 miles and this noise has never caused me a mechanical problem regarding same. BTW, I always thought the noise was like a cow Moooing.

Curiously, my 2002 TL does not do this, nor does my neighbours 2000 Accord V6. I bet Honda fixed this problem and will not admit it.

i'm thinking its the cooling fan,...all my honda/acura vehicles that i've owned does that, the humming/fan noise momentarily turns on after you park your car.....

i would think its normal and i also have not experienced any mechanical problems from this.

i've only had this from honda/acura cars too..no other makes does this that i know of

I can assure you the noise in question is not the cooling fan. I know the difference, and you are right, Hondas are notorious for the fans coming on after shutting off the car. Also, the noise comes from the left rear wheel area.

I agree with BLEXV6 as a long time member of this forum & the other TL board & the old old TL board. I have seen this topic posted before a few times since 1998. What BLEXV6 said might be the cause this is what other people have said it to be.

Yeah, my TL-S makes that noise too! Sounds like "vvvvvvvvt" -- but it doesn't do it all the time. When I first bought my car it sorta scared me... thought something was wrong. I don't worry 'bout it anymore.
