taste the oil on your dipstick and if it tastes like olive oil, then its synthetic.

you can get it analyzed, but why? If you are that worried watch them when they put it in, I mean if you take it somewhere, buy your own oil and watch them poor it in. Dont ever pay the premium that shops charge for synthetic...rip off, go to WalMart and buy a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 for around $23.

I use to go Acura dealer for the oil charge, but it takes an hours and up for waiting,so most of the time i just drop my baby and get back to work.
Why i don't trust them?it is because at the 48000km inspection, they didn't find the screw of the rear sway bar was broke.I found that myself a week later, because of a flat tire. Some guys there you never know,it is just depening on you luck.thanks

Blackstone Laboratories does oil analysis, but I'm not sure if they can tell what type of oil is being used. You can ask for a free kit or whatever it is. It's basically a chemical safe plastic jar that you fill with some of your used oil.

fsttyms1 has done this a few times and his results came out positve from what I remember, he's got a lot of miles on his car too.
