Sylvania silver star bulb results

I spent $48 at Autozone today for two 9006 Sylvania Silverstar bulbs and the bulbs are just a bit whiter than the cheap Cool Blue bulbs that I was previously using.

The light is white with no hint of blue or purple. I should have spend the $48 on a dinner for the wife. Oh well.

i just installed the silverstars in my TL-s couple days ago. maybe you should let the lights warmup a little. here is what i mean. here is a pic when the lights are first turned on. not as bright.

here it is about 2 mins later. they do get a little brighter, as the lights heat up more.

Silver is not blue...

Well, I personally am looking for a match for the HIDs, which are white. I do not want a blue, which is a glare component (necessitating BluBlockers?).

I got the Silverstars, and after they warm up, they are a good match for my aftermarket fogs and pretty close to the HIDs, though clearly warmer. BTW, Blue is out in the 10 degree Kelovin range, not as specified clearly on the Sylvania package, so they give what they claim.

Maybe you need BlueStar ointment to put on the Silverstars

I wholeheartedly agree. The blue light spectrum is detrimental to visibility. I think some people "think" they see blue in HIDs when in fact what they're really seeing is a comparitive lack of yellow. HIDs are a much more pure form of white light, and the higher Kelvin temp reduces the yellow compared to a normal halogen beam. Before HIDs existed in headlights, most everyone would agree that halogens headlights were "white" in color (especially compared with the old incandescents). But now that there is something to compare them to, they look that much more yellow. If I'm upgrading bulbs, I want them to be brighter and offer better visibility than stock. After all, that's what the lights are there for. If they happen to match the HIDs in appearance better than stock (as the Silverstars do), I consider it an added bonus.

Some say they don't like the Acura HIDs because they don't look as "blue" as some of the European cars. I just love the way they *perform.* The fact that they don't look blue is a plus for me.
