Which swaybar should I get?

Hi guys,

Well, I'm gonna spring for some swaybars for my GF's TL. With the abundance of different manufacturers, which one should I get? Also, any good install places in SoCal (don't want to go get raped by the dealer) TIA!

Regards,
Mike

Since the Neuspeed Race bars are no longer in production...I suggest the Eibach's.

That would be my 3rd choice. If you do a little research, I'm sure you could tell why.

Get Eibach. The reason is because they are thicker. I got mine installed at Promax (located in Alhambra) and they charged me $320 including labor if I remember correctly.

$320 for sways AND labor... Promax is a great place with very cheap installation prices.

I've got Comptech and I love it. I couldn't risk it with the Eibach kit because I have to drive about 4-5 months of the year in the snow. But you don't have to worry about that. Either Comptech or Eibach will do. They are both good.

Eibach kit has thicker bars. Thicker bars mean less understeer, which could result in oversteer when there is no traction, like in the snow.

oh..well in that case...im glad i got eibach ...ive used my ebrake so much in the winter to provide me with oversteer that it barely grabs now...i need to re adjust the cable (my car only has 12,700 miles)....i found oversteer alot better the understeer after i plowed into the curb the first 2 turns i took during the first snow storm...that was my first winter with my licence btw, hence the curb...

I prefer oversteer much more over understeer, believe me. But when the ass-end on a FWD spins out (hence exhibiting the characteristics of a RWD0, there isn't much you can do about it except pray that the rear tires will find traction. On a RWD, you can use throttle/brake/steering input to get the car back under control (or even induce oversteer in the first place ).

I've never, ever, spun out in my Tahoe. I hardly ever used 4WD on her because I was comfortable driving in RWD. But I spun my TL out and went into a ditch this past winter. I fvcking hate FWD. Then again, I really love the car. A few years down the road, if I still have the car in my posession, then I might do an AWD or RWD conversion. There's a few companies out there that can do a nice job. It just comes down to $$$.

Wouldn't you be better off in getting the new 2005 RL instead?

We mean BOTH front and back. I would recommend to take it to a shop... it takes a long ass time to do it. Go to a place where the labor is not too expensive, I got mine installed for like $30.
