Superwhite fogs?
I want to place superwhite bulbs into my factory fog lamps. Is that possible or do I have to replace the entire system? If I can just change the bulbs could you point me in the correct direction.(location of product and product # would be very benifitial)
Thank you soooooo much!

bug230, now that you know the bulb size you will no doubt see many varying opinions as to which replacement bulb is best for what you are trying to do. Are you primarily trying to more closely match the color of your HID headlights or just make a significant improvement in the light output of your fogs?

I remember reading that too. I was able to get a lot of information on this subject a few weeks ago by doing a search <deep sigh>. Unfortnately at this time you would have to upgrade your membership to have access to a search tool to find that information. Personally I went with Sylvania Silver Stars but kinda wish I went with PIAA Superwhites. The SilverStars put out a great deal of white light and come reasonably close to the HID color ONCE the HIDS have been on for about a minute. The PIAA's would probably be a little better color match to the HID's and they do a great job producing more light than stock but they are more expensive.

Do a lil search but don't pay TOO much for them. You can find good deals on bulbs that will be closer to the HID color & pay a fair price than a brand name who charges out the A-Hole for them that doesn't even come close to the HID style.....

Do you always have SilverStart on when the head lights are on? I am wondering if it's safe to have the SilverStars Fogs on all the time.
And... how many years do you think SilverStars will last? Would PIAA last more longer?

PIAA is OK...
I just installed the PIAA 9006 Platiums -- they are not close to the blue / white color of the xenon lowbeams but from a distance, they look pretty sharp. They significantly produce a brighter light than stocks, so on a safety standpoint, I don't regret making the investment.
I have also read on this board that the PIAAs last a long time, so with the price, you can expect reliability. As a suggestion, if you don't want your lowbeams running all day, you can do the parking lights / fog light modification posted in the FAQ.
Just my $0.02.

I seem to remember seeing a great write-ip with pics comparing the light output from Silverstars and the HID headlights on a garage wall. I think it might have been posted by pianoman41. Does anyone have a link to that thread?

I am looking into doing this same mod for my 2002. I had the PIAA superplasmas in my first gen. They had a puplish tint to them. I'm not sure how that whould look with the HID's. I think I want to get more of a bright white as opposed to a blue or puprle. The HID's are blue for about 15 seconds (or before warmed up), then the look more white/purple than any other color. I just don't want to purchase the superplasmas and have it be to bright of a purple. Plus they are really expensive!:wow: :wow:

I haven't tried the PIAA's personally but I hear they are good quality. Unfortunately they are pretty expensive and the color rating of the SuperWhites (3800k) is less than the SilverStars (4000k). I do have the Silver Stars on two vehicles though. After the HID's and SilverStars have been on for about 15-30 seconds, they look pretty close in bright white color to me. Additionally the Silver Stars do put out a lot more light than the stock bulbs. I also understand that PIAA has just released a new model bulb that is advertised to put out 4100k color light. You should be able to get more info from their web site if you are interested. Good luck!

Bought some last night.....
I finally splurged and bought some replacement foglights. I took before and after pics. Not sure if you can tell the difference from the cam, but in person you can see a difference. I bought the extreme whites. They are 4000k. They look pretty good. I'm not sure if there really is a bulb that would match our headlights perfectly, other than getting HID fogs......
