Supercharged TLS vs. New M3
What do you guys think about this situation:
Supercharged 2002 TLS w/ springs, sways, strut bars, exhaust, upgraded cross drilled rotors w/ pads and steel lines, upgraded rims to 235 40 r18.
vs.
Stock 2002 bmw m3.

I would rather get the BM, beacuse the price difference between a stock 2002 m3 and a tls as you described isnt much but the performance is. only plus you got goin' for you is that the tls is much bigger inside.
Plus M3's look soooooooooo much nicer, i think.

i would have to disagree with m3 looking nicer. i guess it depends on the taste you have... personally, the m3 is too small. i would say the m5 looks nicer.. im just not a big fan of coupes. not practical. that whole thing about getting out of the car to let someone in and out of the back seat. kind of annoying.

Sorry, spring, sways and fatter rubbers do help your handling, but at best it will equal a 330 non sport's ability. You have to drive an M3 and a modded TL/TLS to feel both, and sorry to say, not even close. Speed, well closer but still not close, unless the SC will push the thing to like 350HP and 340ish torque IMO, then we talkin a good race, but remember, 4th still sux on the a TL/TLS.

Stock TLS is 232lbs ft already now if ur talkin 260 dats isnt really much of an upgrade.... u have to know that stock m3 is 262 lbs ft of torque and has 333 hp STOCK!!! .. because our car is an automatic we lose alot of hp in the process ... AND when u hit 4th gear say BYE BYE... Dats the most disappointing thing i hafta say about the TL... the 4th gear just suck!

ok lets add another situation: for argument sake lets say the m3 is automatic as well. Lets also say the SC will push our TLS to 330 hp and 282lb/ft torque. Im sure we would still lose but it would be close then i would think.

M3 ALL THE WAY, NO CONTEST
M3 is def much cooler. i don't know why their are so many topics of modded tl-s vs. m3. This is such a poor topic. No way in H#ll can a tl-s keep pace with a m3. totally diff class. m3 beats the tl-s in evey single performance catagory. accel, braking, cornering max speed, saloom. we should be racing maximas and is300 not m3's. its seems like you guys are obsessed with the m3, and your dream is to one day beat an m3. the only way that is gonna happen is when the m3 is parked with the engine off.

If you follow the M3 or read up on it the Automatics are VERY CLOSE or infact JUST AS FAST as the Manual... its Suppose to be the fastest automatics around as in gear shifting. and to me the only way you'll ever beat an m3 is that he is going in reverse

I know the M3 is better man. I wanted to find out thoughts on getting our cars to perform better using the M3 as a platform. No matter where your car is on the todom poll you always want to shoot for the top dog, but not way too far up.

Also, the TLS with all the suspension mods I can think of (sticking with stock chassis) will not touch an M3 in handling, unless you put the M3 on some cheap ****ty economy tires and give the TLS slicks :p
