Sunroof refuse to tilt!
This happened twice already, so I want to know if others experienced this too.
Once in a while, the sunroof will refuse to tilt from the fully closed position. Pressing the tilt button simply didn't do anything. At first I thought maybe the sunroof wasn't fully closed, so I press the close button some more, but it didn't help. The solution is really easy, I just have to press the slide button, let me slide a bit, close it back up, and then it tilts. But this is still stupid and annoying. Anyone else seen this in their cars before? Thanks!

Sounds like the tilt button on your sunroof switch is broken.
Easy way to tell, have them swap one out for you really quick before you leave your car with them all day.

Okay, thanks guys
I guess no one else really experienced this before.
I will have it dealt with the next time I go back to dealer to change oil + get all the rattles fixed. It is not a really big issue for now, so I won't make an extra trip just yet.

Just for a quick thing here open the sunroof all the way back and inspect the rails it rides on for some debris that may be jamming the mechanism. To date I have not seen any TL's with nonfunctioning sunroofs (noisy ones yes but they always worked)But I have seen a few instances where debris like sticks small pebbles and in one case a quarter jammed the works (I don't know either!?!? how it got up in there) Jens

Mine jammed once on me at the Westchester meet. I opened it and for some reason the motor would engage when I hit the open button again, but nothing when I hit close. I tried over and over again, turned the car off and on again without any response.
Finally I used the tool in the trunk to manually close it. Decided to try it again and it worked fine. Dont know what happened, but it seemed like the mechanism was confused for a moment. This happened only once months ago.
Is it true the moonroof has an antipinch feature also??? If so maybe something was in the track as the motor wasnt even enaging to close it.

Also, if the sunroof isn't closing all the way, the tilt feature won't work. It may look like the sunroof is closed (gasket touching metal) but until the motor closes it tight it won't tilt. Could be something in the way on the track, etc.

Had the same problem.... also had a similar problem with the windows, not to mention the fact that my seat back warmer doesn't work anymore, I am at 19k miles and all this... not too upset though, I still like the car.

sorry to revive this old thread but i'm now experiencing the same exact prob with my sunroof. i dont even hear the motor engage. sprayed some silicon spray along the rail and i guess i'll just have to wait and see if it works.

sounds like your sunroof rubber trim is being sticky. Just clean the rubber trim with armorall or the like and that would fix the problem; assuming no other obstructions are in the way. Do the same for rear windows if people have windows problem; rubber get sticky if you don't open windows for a long time.
