Question Sunroof problems!!

I took my TL-S in for service today because I was hearing a rattling noise coming from the front of the car everytime I would drive over bumps. I thought something was wrong with the suspention. I got a call from the dealer and he said that the problem was in the sunroof. Apparently there is a problem with the mechanism and it makes the noise seem to come from the front. I had a hard time swallowing that one!! Anyway, I should be getting it back later today.

I was just curious if anyone else heard of this or has even experienced it.

TIA

Are you refering the notorious sunroof visor rattle or something else. In all likelihood the sunroof visor was making the noise if you havent got it fixed yet. The fix is easy and effective. They just put some foam tape or something to dampen the vibration.

However, I now have a new rattle (ever since I got rearended) and it seems to be coming from the sunroof area inside the roof panel. It occurs regardless of whether or not the sunroof is open or closed. Please let me know what they found and how they fixed it. Thanks

I had this problem before. I thought it was a rattle noise coming from the dash, but it was in fact the sunroof. I know it is hard to believe, but if it fixes the problem, I couldn't give a sh*t.

Yeah, my moonroof visor is rattling too; you can almost feel the looseness by pressing down on the roof right behind the moonroof. Annoying, but I'll wait until I take my car in for my free scheduled oil change (free scheduled oil changes for the duration of the standard warranty, BTW) to have it fixed.

Yeah, mine is doing it (sunroof rattle), after 3 months of ownership, just like my Accord in 1998. Honda fixed it via lubrication and its been great ever since.

One thing though, you would think Honda would have this problem rectified, prior to our ownership. Guess not, as this is an ongoing problem. I note, I never had this problem with my 1992 Accord.

Well I know with 100% accuracy that the noise was not my sunroof visor, because I don't have one!

However, I picked up the car last night and I think the rattling has stopped. I picked up the car after hours so I didn't get a chance to talk to the mechanic to find out what exactly he replaced. I hope to that today!!

Anyway, I'm hoping the rattling was definitely that because I'd hate to think that after only 5 months, the roads of NYC have already taken its toll on the car's suspention.

Thanks again to all that posted their opinons. ACURA-TL.COM by far has the best members of any other group!!

Oops, I shoulda said "shade" instead of "visor"; it's the sliding shade that's probably rattling--I don't have a moonroof visor.

Let me clarify, I meant "shade" not "visor". Sorry. So was it the sunroof shade or was it something else?

I had mine in twice to find the rattle. On try # 3 Acura said it was the moonroof, the rattle is now gone so they must be right. I'm not sure that this was a well known problem, if it was then they would have checked it the first two times.

FYI, the other times they claimed to tighten the Base speaker, and the seat belt harness. Neither time did that correct the rattle. Care is dead quite now

What exactly did the noise sound like for you guys? For me it sounded like metal rattling up against the frame of the car!!

Mine was clearly coming from moonroof area--sound was a plastic squeaky-type noise...
