Arrow sunroof care

so a friend's bmw had some sunroof issues....$1000 to fix
i had no idea sunroof repairs were so expensive, i thought they would be more along the line of power window regulators (ie nowhere near 1k).

is there anything i can do to maintain my sunroof in proper running order, so i don't have to go through a $1k repair?

there is a prestone silicone spray available from car part stores and stuff that I used for my windows and sunroof...keeps things real smooth on the tracks. If the motor is struggling to move the glass, it could wear it out faster...so keep is moving smooth with no snags..my windows go up really fast with that stuff..spray it where the window meets the rubber on the side of the glass (vertical edge) not the horizontal part...spray the sunroof tracks where it meets the glass edge
