Suggestions for Newbies
A suggestion, purely personal, from an Oldbie.
Try searching on a topic before you ask a question you think may have been asked before - chances are, it has, and will have been dealt with in considerable depth.
1) I for one am tired of answering the same old questions (such as which octane, which springs, which wheel sizes, etc.) It is tiresome and does not add to the Forum
2) You will probably get a better answer to your question, as those of us who post detailed responses are not likely to do that over and over, and those who just pop off an answer are often not the ones best qualified to answer.
Example:
Which octane is best?
Useless answer: "I use Chevron 92 and it is great!:
Better answer: Octane varies from mfr to mfr, and often octane claims are not met. It is best to try a variety, then stick to a mfr. from the same dealer tank. Also, you will get better mileage with higher octane, but should compute the Cost Per Mile of a few representative tankfuls to see which is the best for your style of driving. One thing I can assure you from the data I have seen - no brand has adequate additives to keep your intake and combustion chambers really clean! For that, you need a good aftermarket products such as Regane, or Redlines's SI-1 or SI-2.
If you live in an area with oxygen-enriched fuels, that is even more necessary - these leave nasty deposits on the injectirs and intake valves.

Although I agree in large measure with Road Rage regarding research of previous posts, other factors may apply to amplify on previously mentioned topics. For example, RoadRage's mention of octane rating, additives, detergents, etc., play an important part in milage and costs.
However, there's a lot to be said for photocopying "official" looking coupons and passing them off as valuable foreign currency to unsuspecting gas station attendants. The Aluet "Gringle" seems to be a good way to go in identifying this type of currency.
I don't think this type of advice would show up in a search, unless "Aluet" or "Gringle" was specifically mentioned.

Darla, point, but a search on "gasoline" or "octane" would have revealed many posts and one or two biggies on this topic, including one where I shot my mental wad on everything I have learned about the topic ove many years.
While I agree that ocasionally someone adds something new, might I suggest that one would still be better ff by finding the "fattest" post, and asking "anyone have anything to add?".
