this sucked- please not my TRANNY

I was heading home the other day after getting a tire rotation and suddenly I heard a sound which sounded identical to an exhaust pipe dragging along the road... SCRA-A-A-PE! I didn't think it was my car, but the pitch changed with my speed... I pulled off, checked the underside- looked OK. Put it in reverse, backed up a bit, then when I pulled forward again, the sound was gone and hasn't returned since. I've also been noticing that there seems to be some lag before the transmission "catches" when shifting in to Drive from park or reverse. Can't be good. Symptoms of a dying transmission?

the delay in shifting between 2nd and 3rd is the tranny. As for the dragging sound, it may just have been something that got kicked up from the road and stuck under your car. I had a grinding sound coming from the front left corner of the car a few months ago every time i turned the steering wheel to the right. When i checked out the noise i found that a foot long metal rod had somehow embedded itself into the plastic cover underneath the car near the washer fluid tank. It looked like a solid brake line tube or something of that sort. It took a pair of vice grips to free it. That would have been some heck of a tire puncture if it had gone into the tire.

I think you picked up some **** under your car and dragged it... now you're paranoid that it's your tranny....

I'm not understandin' how that scrape sound could be related to your tranny failing
