2002 3.2 w/ the bose 6 cd stereo.
good idea? bad?
not worth the hassle?
how much should the install be?

Wink

dude i dont know what the hell there talkn about adding a sub without an amp?
please ask why and let us know. if your going for sound quality and overall better sound.... def install a sub. if you keep the factory deck. youll need a (pack) or a line-output-converter, wires and rca's install is roughly 70 to 90 dollars thats if there not scared of an acura and give you bs reasons for stuff you dont need. there are good installers out there and there are r-tards. kinda why i hate working for this company...

they can catch the pack at the rear speakers or better yet the factory sub, but dont let them take the radio out for speaker outputs, unless your planning on changing the deck out at a later date.

our cars are a very good building block for a very sq set up... if your not afraid of a drill ill be more than happy to walk you through it, and it will save you alot of money.

also look into new door speakers while your out, replace them and you will be amazed at the quality sound you get. let me know

You could in theory connect a sub to the stock setup but I think it would probably be getting something like 50 watts. Definately want to use your own amp. And yes if your using your stock deck you will probably need some sort of line out converter. Including the equipment needed install might be anywhere from 150-200. Call around to check and you might went to get a reputable audio shop to do the install as a bad install will end up costing you a lot more later on.

ok well im having the same problem.... i just received 2 12' Rockford Fosgate Punch subs with the box installed for free from my uncle. Now my problem is how do i hook the speakers up.

Key Features:

-power range 50-100 watts RMS each
-peak power 200 watts
-frequency response 28-400 Hz
-sensitivity 89 dB
-4-ohm impedance
-top mount depth 5-1/16"
-sealed box volume 1.25 cu. ft.
-ported box volume 2.0 cu. ft.

I do not know all the materials i need :/... i know i need a new amp but i dont know what else, and i dont know how to install so my friends dad is going to do it for me as long as i get all the stuff.

Hi,
I had the same problem.

What i did was disconnect the wire harness at the subwoofer amp module (behind the rear seat passenger side).

Get an RCA patch cable and cut off the rca plug at one end leaving bare wire.

Going back to the wire harness that was disconnected at the subwoofer amp module (not the short subharness at the amp module it self).

I took the positive of the patch cable(bare end) and connected to the blue wire with a green stripe.(cavity 7)
Then connect the negative of the patch cable or the outer shield to the orange wire with a blue stripe.(cavity 8) (see pic)

The orange wire (cavity 2) remote turn on.

To avoid cutting the factory wire, i took a spade lug connector(see pic) cut the ends off and solder the little piece to the bare end of the patch cable.

Then slip the homemade terminal into the proper cavities, tie down with zip ties and wrap with tape.

My car is a 2002 TL Type-S (non nav)
don't know if other years are the same.

ok hmm im gonna look for good installers.
and for the speaker upgrades....they're 6 1/2 " front and rear???
how hard is it to change them?
looks like the standard civic/accord setup ...pop off cover and then unscrew/replace?

Well as far as the door speakers pretty sure you can just splice the stock speakers wires on to the speaker terminals.

NO NO do not pop of the speaker grills. the door panel has to come off, but is very easy. screw behind the door handle and under the armrest, and its push pins holding it in, just start at the bottom- pulling out towards you.. and dont forget to take the black triangle piece at the top of the door.. if you dont use speaker harness's just make sure you connect them all in the correct polarity. good luck man.

why do people repeat what others have said over and over on here???

if you have any questions man, feel free to ask
