stupid question: what year did the TL come in type S?

stupid question: what year did the TL come in type S?
hey
i am a new guy on this fourm... right now i am a second time maxima ower, a 95, and a 98. but i am selling my 98 and my dealer ran accross this nice TL and he said it was a type S with triptronic, and fully loaded. but the thing that puzzels me is that he told me it was a year 2000. i have been doing alot of research lately and i can not seem to find a 2000 type S. it looks like type S only starts in the year 2002. is this true? sigh... i am not sure what to do, should i get a TL? i hear they have tranny problems..
what do you guys think of them? and anything in particular i should consider about your cars? thank you very much and i appreciate your patience with a newbie. have a good one guys.

damn that stinks... thats kinda what i suspected. it probably means i will not be getting a TL. *sigh* i really wantted the 260 horse. i guess i will have to stick to getting another maxima. thanks.

well i didn't see search buttton... i am sorry. i know nothing is worse then a newbie asking stupid questions when there is a search button for a reason... it is the same way on maxima.org
