Post Street Race

Just out of curiosity, what kind of car have you "raced" on the street or the high way, and what happened?

Personally, I have raced a Monte Carlo and I KILLED the Monte. Gotta love the 260hp. Friday, I raced a SAAB 9000 turbo and that was no competition. Right before that, a 325 tried to keep up with me but gave up after a while.

the tls is a fast car, this does not shock me at all.The tls probably can hang on to most 2 door sport coupes, camaro, mustang, bmw. its a fast car, what do you expect, to be left behind ha ha ! {NEVER, NOT IN A TLS}

Here is a list of cars I've beaten (by at least 1/2 car length -- anything closer I'll call "even..."):
- Mustang/Camaro V6 (no competition)
- Mustang '9X GT (the 4.6L) auto?
- Honda Civic Si (tricked out)
- Buick Regal GS (my buddy's, and sometimes it'd be very even)
- BMW 325i E46 body
More to come!

The only car that I was even with (that I've raced) is the 330i.

I've wondered how much slower I will be in my TL-S. Hopefully not too much after my header add. But then again I can run pretty even with new vettes. Man, I'm gonna miss that car.

Maxima SE 5-speed is pretty fast, though still had no problem dusting it..

Raced couple E46s, IS300s, E320s, CLKs, Civics, Integras, even raced with my own S-Class(My older brother driving it).. So far, my own S beat me at mid-range and up(60mph - 80mph, and anything speed in triple digit range), but from stand still, there is no competition...

Here is my wishlist of cars I WANT to race:
- Nissan Maxima (1997-2001) w/ 5 spd
- Acura CL Type S (hehehe)
- Acura TL-P (wanna see what the extra $1500 bought me)
- Pontiac GTP
- Volkswagen Jetta VR6 5-spd
- Camaro/Firebird V8 --> wanna see if I get slaughtered, or just "hung out to dry..."
- Mercedes E430
And the list goes on...

I raced a brand new Audi A4 2.8 yesturday and I smoked it by about 4 cars length. After that he tried again and I killed him with no prob. From there on, he drove the speed limit and stayed waaaaaaay off of my a@#.

Also, to add to the list, a Volvo S60 or S80, blew that away as well.

Cool

New BMW 3 Series, not sure of displacement. I was caught unawares until he jumped out two lanes over. TL-S reeled him in and spit him out. That would have been a hell of a ticket, though 93 in a 45. You should have seen the look on the guys face, he had no clue what was screaming past, it was priceless. At least I still had my Tustin Acura plate on the back to give him a clue...

;-)

I don't care what car you give me. I'll kill anyone with up to 100 more horse power than the car I'm driving, on any highway. Noone has yet to beat me. I'm not talking about 1 or two cars ahead.....I'm talking see ya looser kind of distance. One time I flew between two cars at 100mph, racing with a audi A6....I had a eclipse RS 140HP no mods. Each car was in their lane next to each other. I flew between the two cars with the white dash road line under the center of my car. It was so close that if one of the two cars would have move a couple of inches when I flew by, I would F**k up my car and their car. Some luck yes, a lot of skills and guts of course.

huh?? Either you're driving that 140 hp Eclipse or the TL in your sig, and I'll posit that you think you can beat a C5 Corvette @ 345 hp (you have 245hp in a modded TL . i'm sure you have headers on your ride...) .. so that's exactly 100 hp .. wanna race?

So far I've taken on 2 Acura Legends and an older model Mustang Convertible. I doubt they noticed I was driving a type-S. (I took off the type-s badge...heh heh)

sorry I don't have the eclipse anymore. Take a trip to florida, so I could wink at you through my rear view mirror. I don't currenlty have any engine mods on my car, but I don't need them.....I did beat a 98 911 turbo on I-95....I won't give credit to myself for being good, because he did kind of suck....but he had a nice car. I also race jay fidler(QB) from the miami dolphins(00' silver clk 430 convertible) on I-95....almost made him crash. I should have since it was right before the playoff......he suck in the playoff. Man....I live to race.....come on show me what you got.

It's embarrassing to take credit for beating a Porsche 911 even IF the driver was 95 years old, 98% blind, and didn't know the first thing about driving a manual --> it's posts like that that incite the "e.violence" from trolls on other boards --> at least the Porsche owners have enough civility and class not to troll on over here.

HAHAHAHOHOHO! The stupidity of RECKLESS street racers never ceases to amaze me.

It's one thing to out-accelerate some sap to the speed limit but simply moronic to go 90+mph in a 45mph street/residential road.

Driving fast is about finesse, stealth, and using your brain NOT about jeopardizing other drivers' lives and eventually face-planting yourself permanently.

Survival of the fittest...smart, savvy drivers live and reproduce while stupid, reckless drivers DIE!

LMAO!

I'm sorry I can't come to Florida, I'd love to show you how 1.3 liters of rotary power can embarrass a fellow. Eddie lives down there maybe he could show ya, but then again he might not want to waste his gas on you with prices going up.

I've beat a C5...three to be exact. It's usually neck and neck though. I think that's pretty good considering I only have 255hp stock. Only mod is a Downpipe.
Anyway....

modded RX-7 vs. C5 --> very reasonable that one or the other can win --> I've seen RX-7's launch (post-93) --> lightening quick ..
those cars are racing machines ..

I was commenting on a modded TL vs. C5

Oh I know exaclty what you were commenting on. I've never heard such crazy talk before. Talk about comparing apples to oranges. I through my comment out the because of the HP difference in the 7 and the C5. And how oh so close they are in performance. Do you have a C5? If so it must be nice to be able to have that and a TL-S. I'm putting mine poor baby in the paper as soon as I can work a deal on my TL-S.
Anyway....happy motoring!

RX-7 is leaving... ???$#$@# Can't you find a way to keep both???

That's the Rotary Technology that set the precedent for automotive engineering. It's a shame they were a bi*ch to maintain and very few knew HOW to properly service them. The RX-7 weighed a little less than a C5 does, am I correct? No, I own an E320 and a TL-S .. would love an RX-7 in red though! Can't wait to see the new rotary engine car Mazda is putting out in a few years!

Hey man, '91 Corolla's were MAD quick! I've seen those things at the track.. they were pulling low 12's easy w/ a few mods .. (like a GNX attached to its left side).

SS is no better than D5 when yer just floorin' it and racin' someone.

Has anyone in a type S raced a Non Type S?

Im curious how good the type s is over the Base TL.

I have just the TL and have no problem dusting people at the lights, but I don't think they are really trying to race me. I just like to go fast, until I reach the speed limit, then I just hover around it..

I think there is over a full second difference in acceleration from 0-60.

A true street race represents merely horsepower v horsepower. It should be in an area unoccupied by other vehicles so as to minimize the danger to participants and commuters alike. Anyone who is stupid enough to split two cars driving in their own lanes side by side to "win" a race deserves their inevitable grizzly end. The sad part is the innocents who are injured or killed as a result of the actors inability to turn of their ego. People like this are the ones who invented the "fly-by" and perpetuate road rage in our society. I for one am glad I don't live anywhere near this goobers home town.

MADD is against drunk driving, which as a whole I do oppose, and make every effort to remove drunks from the road. I recently rid myself of a 99 cobra mustang, and had occassion to race on the street and at the drag strip. Seemed like about 50% of the people I raced and beat on the street (a win being indicated by my ability to pull 2-4 car lengths over a variable distance or period of time) would after having been dispatched "fly by" and weave through a group of commuters to the danger of themselves and others. If by choosing to react in this fashion they somehow convinced themselves that they had won, they obviously did so in an effort to rebuild their bruised ego. I will not race someone unless there is sufficient space with which to ring out my car, it makes no sense to start a race in a street setting when there are other cars on the roadway which will obviously impede either racer. So there, my opinion though self percieved as valuable, is provided free of charge.

Rebounder,

What are you worry about, you are from Texas, plenty of wasted open space. This topic was posted to see what cars us TL owners have encountered, not a drag race down the main strip during rush hour.

Rhino--

Whew! I'm probably years late in saying this, but phenomenal work on your Porsche! Um, how about I let you go on ahead and race someone w/ a little more hp under the hood, I'm gunna save this TL-S for milk runs, m'kay? Awesome ride, bro --> how long did it take you start to finish, and what gave you the idea? .. does your website have all this information including comparisons w/ the 350 small block vs. the Porsche.. is it the flat-six? .. I'd love to read about it!

Thanks for the link.

I have a non Type S. I raced a tricked out Gen 5 new body prelude 2 weeks ago, smoked him by over 2 car lenghts. I am stock.

Bitium:
Theres no way any stock Acura of any kind can beat a 98 911 Turbo. Even if that guy sucks at driving he didn't even give it full go against your type S. unless he skipped a gear or something, all he would have to do is hit the gas, not even go near redline and he'll still smoke the shit out of any TL/TL-s. the 96 turbo did the 60 in 3.6 secs and the quarter in 11's, so theres really no competition.

Peter: why do you care to race a Vr6, they suck. too heavy in the front. a chipped 1.8 turbo is a much better challenger. Hows the 320? I LOVE the E class benz. I'm 23 and want to get an Eclass with Brabus Monoblocks. Some guy at my school has that shit slammed that is ****in ballin. My moms got a new E320, its probably one of the best 6 cylinders i've been in next to M3. Doesn't feel like a 6. Faster than the S430 too, ... too heavy i guess. and the sport shifting is like 10 times more sportier than the TL's in my opinion as well.

That's awesome. I'd like to read about it also. There's a site where they put LS-1's in my little car too. I've thought about it but I can't afford to have a toy at this time. Maybe later. I love you car though. I told myself by getting rid of my RX7 now, will leave room for a porsche later. I can only hope.
