Okay, it's a well known fact that we Southern Californians wig out when the rains come, and it's been raining off and on for a few weeks now. So...
Yesterday I had about a 1 1/2 hour drive up the freeway to some relatives for a few hours. It was pouring most of the way, and the cloud cover was all over. The Navi had some trouble, but came away pretty clean. I'm glad I knew kinda where I was going though because I had multiple "re-calculations" and "Jane" (our voice) told us once to make a u-turn if possible right in the middle of the freeway. We also drove off into space on the map a few times until it righted itself.
This is all normal under these weather conditions, right? If so, I'm glad rain is not a normal thing down here.

The earlier margin of error was upto about 100 - 300m. About a year back, the Government decided to reduce the margin of error (increase the accuracy) in civilian NAV systems to about 10m, unless the area is a sensitive one (like say near a nuclear installation).....which is why the NAV systems are pretty accurate now, and pinpoints your location on Earth, with an accuracy of upto 10 m.....as long as you are not near a high security region.
