Stock tires are horrible

i just put in a neuspeed upper tie strut bar and i guess its helping the handling but lately thats nto what it seems... im pushing the car harder through turns (and i guess its my fault since the handling isnt gonna get THAT much better) and ive noticed my tires just start to give out.... ive almost spun off the road a couple of times which is why ill cut down on pushin it thru the turns

i was thinking of gettin a rear sway bar next but i figure with the tires giving out as it is, wud it be wise to do something thatll give the car itself the ability to be more rigid but have tires that wont do anything for it...

what mod do u think i should do next for handling... ? (only handling mod i have is the strut bar for now)

tires, definitely tires...what good is it if you have all the aftermarket suspension parts but still crappy tires. you're likely to spin out more if you have great handling but crappy tires since the tires wont be able to hug your car to the road.

Tires= grip
suspension (mods)= handling

Without both of these, and the MXV4s are lacking in their department, you can't perform well. What sucks is when I got my '99 we needed them to put new tires on so they put new versions of the stock tires. Bad mistake I could be driving around on some potenzas now instead of these suck-ass michellins.

Michelins are good but not the ones that are on the stock car :P

I'd go with Bridgestone myself though... not for the money though, they are expensive Kuhmos have a good all-around value, not nearly as sticky as the Bridgestones but are great for 80 bucks a pop on 17s. That's why I have them on my car

I wasn't knocking Michelins in general at all, If I had a sportscoupe I'd love to have a set of M Pilots. All i'm saying is the stock tires are sucky.

The stock tires are ok for slightly aggressive driving, but if you are "pushing" through corners, you may want to step up to some beefer tires and maybe even larger/wider wheels.

you're joking lol ...

I have an AV6, stock springs/shocks w/Michelin Pilot Sport XGT H4 @ 225/45/17.

I wanted 215/50/17 but, 225/45/17 was -/+ 0.5% height compared to 215's. Funny part is, my car OUT handles any car that I've ever driven.. MY TIRES are reasonably decent, they are H-rated, my original tires are V-rated 15".

I finally replaced the stock rubber this last weekend with some Bridgestone 730s and it makes a HUGE difference with the suspension compents (sways and springs)!!!

I wasnt aware that H-rated tires did much of anything for ANY type of gripping... do they even make H rated?

You must not drive a lot of cars.

well, H-rated really only REFERs to top speed rating of the tire, generally speaking of course. My originals were V-rated 205/65/15 (15" yes haha) and were GARBAGE.

I only got H rated b/c of tread-life -400AA. My car can fishtail at or above 30mph into intersection-90degree turn. Don't forget, 225 width on my car vs. 205 original on my car, so far so good. I would consider even grippier tires, not that these are bad, but, if I did that, I'd drive even more recklessly lol, and secondly, I'd be buying tires ever 10000miles vs. every 35-40000mi.

But, I only have 200hp +short intake and axleback exhaust, so lol, H-rated maybe adequate lol. I can take a 55mph turn at about 90mph, with my current tires, in the dry of course .

well if its treadlife that u are worried about, without taking hard turns (where do u find turns that say 55mph?highest ive seen is 45), u shud stick to the stock or go for the cheapest ones... if u want grip and some fun with it, go for the Z
