1. Stock Sub is fed 50W at @ 2ohms (I think)
2. The 8'' will fit if you make a bracket to support it. The stock sub is 9". Also if the 8" is less that 3 inches deep. There is a bar right under the stock sub which you can see from the trunk.
3. Its best to have an enclosure for subs. If you want you can use a free air. Their aren't many but Kicker makes an 8" Free-Air and Pioneer makes a 10" free air.

dont even waste your time with the stock sub or putting another freeair sub in there. Get a sub in a box - that is the only way to get a real worthwhile improvement

my rear fenders already rub, so thats why i didn't want anything heavy in the trunk. what do you think i should do? any light boxes out there? would one eight inch or ten inch in a box be hot?

A custom audio shop would normally create a fiberglass or wood bracket to fit the 8" in the 9" location. Someone on this forum a year back make one from wood at home. I don't know if the JL 8" is going to fit in that location because of mounting depth. The Kicker 8" Free-Air will. You won't get a lot more bass but your bass will be cleaner and deeper. If you want that, I can hear you coming from 2 blocks away Bass then get yourself a nice 10" or 12" with a box and massive amp. Free-Air will never sound like that.

If you do get a new sub installed don't use the stock amp. Get an aftermarket, that stock amp is crap.

I really want to keep the 6 disc changer so no aftermarket deck for me. I would like to get a cradle for an IPOD that links to the deck. Anyone here tried that yet?
