stock sub ???????
1. how many watts can the stock sub handle? What size of an amp should i get?
2. will an 8" jlw3 fit where the stock sub is wtihout any modifications?
3. will a jl be ok in the stock spot or do i need an enclosed box or will i need an open air
sub?

1. Stock Sub is fed 50W at @ 2ohms (I think)
2. The 8'' will fit if you make a bracket to support it. The stock sub is 9". Also if the 8" is less that 3 inches deep. There is a bar right under the stock sub which you can see from the trunk.
3. Its best to have an enclosure for subs. If you want you can use a free air. Their aren't many but Kicker makes an 8" Free-Air and Pioneer makes a 10" free air.

A custom audio shop would normally create a fiberglass or wood bracket to fit the 8" in the 9" location. Someone on this forum a year back make one from wood at home. I don't know if the JL 8" is going to fit in that location because of mounting depth. The Kicker 8" Free-Air will. You won't get a lot more bass but your bass will be cleaner and deeper. If you want that, I can hear you coming from 2 blocks away Bass then get yourself a nice 10" or 12" with a box and massive amp. Free-Air will never sound like that.
If you do get a new sub installed don't use the stock amp. Get an aftermarket, that stock amp is crap.

ive got about 100watts(maxx) going to the stock sub, i alo have a aftermarket deck. but it does sound WAY better than the stock setup. ive been running this setup for over a year now and every thing is good
