Stock rims oxidized - dealer replaced!

After 2 years, my stock rims were starting to look really bad. The clear coat was pelling off in places, and in others oxidation was ocurring under it. At 45K miles, I took it into the dealer for standard maintenance, and complained about the rims. When I came back to pick it up, the dealer had replaced all 4 free of charge! Unbelievable! If your rims look like hell, run, don't walk to your local dealer and get them replaced now!

Really?!? They aren't supposed to be under warranty. The reason they looked so oxidized was probably because you take your car to a car wash. The chemicals they use on your rims kill your clearcoat causing them to look like they are oxidized. I bought two new center caps for our 94 accord and after a week, I took it to the car wash and the guy just sprayed the crap out of them. After they washed the car, I noticed most of the clearcoat came off.. Beware of car washes!

I think you can use Wheel Wax to put a wax coating on the wheels. It will also prevent brake dust from forming.
