Stock airbox question
I was in auto zone and saw a shy crome air filter and had one of those "impulse buys" hehe. It costed $20.
I open up my hood at home and started to unbolt the stock airbox. I got the two bolts off and tried to pull it out and it wouldn't come out. Attaching to the engine side of the airbox are two hoses. Hmmmmm..... So I undo the four philips screws and take the cover off. Under the stock air filter is a vent with a flap. It looks like these hoses have anti-freeze in them and some kind of mini radiator in the airbox?!?!? crazy...
People with intakes... Where did you relocate this mini radiator and it's hoses????
I'm gonna get my PVC pipe to finish it tommorow...
Hope someone can help me with Ideas. I was going to take it apart but the anti-freeze in the airbox was still HOT!

This is only on 99 models. Is an air heater.
you could just disconect the hoses and put them together so the coolant/antifreeze still flows. You could throw the mini radiator away.
BTW wait until it cools down. I would suggest leave off all night and work on the car in the morning.

I was thinking it was an air heater but I thought to myself... WHY???
Could it be for really, really cold climates?? Why dont the other models have them??? Did they just relocate the one's on the other model??
I am tempted to just take it out of the airbox but keep it in the engine bay.... I dont know if there would be any harmfull effects from taking it out....
maybe it's just one of the different things they did with the 99TL
At least I know what the hell it is....
