I noticed this morning that my steering wheel makes rubbing noise when I turn it of course. Has anybody noticed anything similar? What can be the problem? The car is two months old with less then 2K miles on it.

 

Does it sound like part of the steering wheel is rubbing against plastic or something similar sounding? I get this type of noise; it's somewhat faint but audible, plus the noise is not constant
during the entire turning motion of the steering wheel--as if it's hitting a particular spot during the circular motion. You can almost feel it rubbing against something as well as hear the noise while turning it.

Lemme know what you find out; I was gonna address this at the dealership but the noise is somewhat difficult to reproduce, even when I was trying really hard to reproduce it.

Exactly as you described it, not constant during the entire turning motion of the steering wheel which is interesting. It happens only on one section. I noticed it this morning and will see if it is going to be permanent. I tried it several times this morning and it was noticeable but faint as you said.
I would really like to know what is it, it makes me nervous extremely, especially I do not plan to visit dealer soon. If you know more please let me know and if I find out, I’ll keep you posted.

Where did you get that idea ? If you look around in our forums here you'll realize that creaks, squeaks and rattles are our constant companion.
