Steering Wheel Gap

I just bought my TL-S this morning. I got a good deal on it. Paid $29600 for a Emerald Green Pearl/Parchment non-nav with wheel locks and mud guards. Traded my 5 month old Cl-P in. The quesion I have is the gaps in the steering wheel. There seems to be a larger than normal gap where the air bag cover meets the spokes. You are able to see the screws and such through the gap. Is this normal? On the CL-P I had the gaps were tight. Just need to know before I take it in on this Saturday.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hope you got a good trade-in value on a 5-month old car.

As for the gap on the steering wheel, mine seems to be fine. How wide exactly is it? Does it happen to all 4 spokes?

It is the upper spokes of the wheel. The gaps are about 1/8" on the right and about 1/4" on the left. As far as the trade in the dealer gave me $24,000 fo it. The car had 5100 miles on it.

I've noticed the gap you're referring to. On my TLS, it's more prominent on the right side of the air bag.

Mine also has a larger gap on the right side then the left. I read something on a previous thread that the dealer could easily adjust the gap by loosening a couple of screws.

I have not had the dealer touch mine yet.

I think most of us have this gap, some being more noticable than other's. This has been the same since the '99 TL's came out. In my case, its just a tiny bit off, not enough to warrant me mentioning it or them messing with it.

I found that the gap is larger on the right side of my wheel as well. I'm not going to have the dealer touch it though, it isn't large enough to warrent the extra tinkering.

Talking I have one too

I have a gap on my steering wheel as well but not that drastic... I would see if they can remove the air bag and put it back in more centered.
