Stealing Headlights?

Whats up guys! I recently discovered while I was washing my car that I had a few nicks and scrathes under the passenger side of my headlights. I just got the car a few weeks ago and I don't remember seeing this before. Do you think that someone tried to steal my headlights. I know that alot of people in my neighborhood have had this problem. Do the thiefs actually try and pry off the glass cover to the lights? Because that is what it looks like. I'm very nervous because not only will this leave me with numerous dents on my front bumper it will also cost me alot of money to replace. If anyone has had this problem please let me know, and if there is a possible way to protect this.

Thanks alot

TSounds like it. The only thing you can do is put a sensor for the alarm so it can go off if they try to mess with them.

If i was a thief.......the sensor would not stop me from taking your lights....it would only trigger the alarm.Best thing is to keep you car garaged and only take it to places where you feel safe with your car.

yeah i live in NY and don't have a garage, but at least if the alarm goes off it will give me a chance of knowing that someones outside playing with my car and allow me to go outhere.

Had a friend in Edgewater who had his Maxima's lights stolen in a fairly quiet neighborhood. Also noticed another Maxima at the Exxon across from the Edgewater Commons that were also missing headlights. My friend's neighbors noticed a grey/white van parked out front while his alarm started going off and then took off. Seems like they only need a minute to grab the headlights. Watch out!

damn that sucks for you guys as well as us maxima owners

but we have a fix for this, we can convert to the 2000/01 headlights and just lose our HIDs...you guys can't switch yours out

I got mine stolen about a month ago and now I just keep it in the garage and can't enjoy a car $28k+

THESE PEOPLE SHOULD JUST DIE...THEY HAVE NO USE IN THIS WORLD ANYWAY

The only people that could use these stolen headlights are other TL owners. So part of the problem lies with our fellow owners. Now if we could all refuse to purchase these stolen parts, knowingly or not, our problems would be solved.

junkbond,
I'm not so sure that you are correct. I think they can pull the balast (sp?) and bullb and retrofit it into any car.

tl owners are NOT the only ones to use stolen TL lights.

go check any Honda accord, civic or "insert any other model here" type of cars that ricers would pay money to install.

I was in brooklyn in April to visit a friend of mine at work. His coworker had a Mitsu Galant with HIDs which he said he paid $200 from one of his boys. When I asked how so cheap his coworker said to me all smug that his boy got them off a TL.

I wanted to smash that Galant and give the owner something to smile about but I didn't want to get my friend in trouble at his job.

So you need to stop thinking/saying that its only TL owners that steal TL headlights. That's ridiculous!

i met a guy selling stolen HID's...but he didnt know i had a TL so i asked him alot of questions about how they did it and how long it took ... i then informed him that i have a TL and just to walk by it if he ever saw it. Takes less then a minute.... he said they use a four foot crow bar and just wedge it in under the bumper and out they come.Yes i wanted to smash his face in but without proof i couldnt do anything.....sooner or later they get caught anyway.

Yup, they steal em and are slapping in Civics, Accords etc. Blame your lil brothers.

On the other hand, blame Acura for such a cheap design.
