On Star

My buddy just bought a '06 tl and he was comparing the feature i had in mine. To his suprise I had on star and he did not. To my knowledge i thought on star was a thing that chevy used on their cars. Does anyone else have on star on their 2g tl-s or do you think someone put it in aftermarket? PLease fill me in...

well here in canada, for onstar u need a cellphone line to activate it, and u would have to find out from onstar what companies u can go with, here bell mobility is the only company that offer onstar plans, i believe that the plans are like sharing plans that leech off ur minutes from another line, and it starts from like 17 bucks or so..

Thats not bad at all it just uses your cell phone minutes? It's not a big deal but i'd like for all my features to work. I got it so it might as well work you know.

Onstar was included on the Nav cars in 2003. As of November 2007 when all cellular went digital only the analog systems in our cars no longer works. Acura choose not to provide an upgrade possibilty to the digitial system.

But we do have a pretty light show at night!!

Seriously, in this day and age On-Star is pretty worthless (except for the air bag deployment part) most of the other features you can get on your mobile phone without having to pay a lot more for it. I did think about setting mine up when I bought the car 2 years ago, but having talked to people who own GM's with it - most don't renew after the free trial period, so I didn't bother.
