Okay when at a full stop and in sports shift or regular D5 i stomp on it and it shifts from 1st to 2nd and there is that shifting jerk. Is that bad for the tranny?

Shifts between gears shouldn't be jerky. Even when I'm driving pretty aggressively, shifts are smoooooooth . .. usually. OP you need to be more descriptive.

 

Maybe your tranny is going?? Mine just went out last night...

 

1st to 2nd might be wheelspin jerk

not to thread jack but how about when shifting from 2nd to 3rd or even 3rd to 4th theres a jerk when you're WOT? don't think i have any jerk just coasting along city streets from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th

 

read the owner book on traction control and check speed this is occuring to narrow down whats wrong
Could be a broken motor mount if you like to stomp full throttle from a stop!
The TL lacks a top engine brace and even goes thru mounts on cars not driven hard...

 

vip- stop doing whatever causes it to hard shift 2nd 3rd- those are the weak clutch packs-
and thats a sign something is wrong- possibly very very wrong and could result in CEL and flashing D5 light...

 

check motor mounts as well

 

there you go- 2 tech background members say check the motor mounts!!
that front one and passenger side are always breaking
