SS and Gas Mileage
no one will believe me, but try it. the auto tranny on our cars sucks.; or at least i think it does. it just wants to get into the higher gears and never wants to come down so there is never any power when you are slowing down and speeding up. anyway, i am not an engineer yet and i don't understand why gas usage comes into any of this, but i tried only using SS and came out with extremely worthwhile results. with the auto i was getting 20 to 21 mpg (city)and a very boring experience. then, i would keep it in ss and shift around 3 to 4 k rpm. plus i would downshift appropriately just like i would in a real stick. the result was an awesomely responsive ride with the power there when i wanted it and the gas mileage consistently has been increased when using only ss. im getting near 25 mpg (city). people always told me that ss would use up more gas, but well, whatever. i love my car even more now.
would like to hear any similar experiences.

I seem to get 24.1 mpg no matter how I drive. Usually an average mixture of city & hwy and a 50/50 split between SS and auto. BTW, my wife won't let me use SS when she's in the car.

I run a mixture of SS and Auto and get about 20 mpg on average, mixed city and highway driving. Average trip is about 20 miles one way.
Half the time I tend to leave it in Auto for cruising and very slow traffic, but I use SS for the other half because it does put more kick into the drive!

I drive pretty much 90% highway miles to and from work (70 miles round trip) and I averaged just under 26mpg in full auto. Once I hit my break-in mileage (about 2 weeks ago) I've been using SS and I've been averaging around 24.5 - 25.5mpg. Typically I go anywhere from 300 to 350 miles on a full tank and I usually drive around 75-80mph on the highway (depending on traffic flow)......

L,
You must drive more downhill!
In my experience with the SS in the TL, I got lower gas mileage than full auto.
I'm guessing that the more your engine stays in higher RPM, the more gas it's going to use.
Maybe it's that intake you got!

I drive about 50/50 between SS & auto. Heavy traffic I use SS & lighter ones I stay in auto. So far I have been avr. about 400 miles per tank (13~14 G per fill up). I don't think I drive with a lead foot like before but my gal kept on telling me to slow it down in this beast TL
