SRS warranty Question foglight mod TL
I did the fog light mod on my 2G and I think that's how I caused the SRS light to come on the 1st time. I did DIY reset wit Mes connector and I was able to turn it off. Recently after several months, the SRS light has come back on. I did the reset many times but the light didn't go off this time. I taking the car to my dealer but I'm anxious if the the dealer discovers the fog light mod done on my car and decides to play hard n refuse me the extended warranty for the srs sensors. Do you guys suggest I take off all the wires b4 I take my car to the dealer ?

No, I'm drawing current from the 7.5 amp instrument panel back light fuse. Everything else is untouched. Canadian dealers are not very used to moded cars, I don't want to fall on a dork who will hold this against me.

take it to the dealer. i just bought a tl and it had the srs light on and wouldnt reset. they have a warranty up to 150k miles. The dealer had to order a new sensor for one of my seats and fixed it all for free and gave me a 09 tl to drive around all day. Lol the best problem ive ever had.

no there's no other mod done on the car other than a 6 inch led strip sticked inside the fins (factory lip kit) just under the foglights and taped onto foglight wire harness. I've tried to reset with foglight mod wires removed but no luck.
I'll have it checked by the dealer like sohcisme suggests but my concern is, should I leave my foglight mod wires on or take out everything so the dealer won't blame it for any trouble thus voiding my warranty ?
Sorry for puntuation, I'm writting his in my bed on my iPhone lol

What dealer you going?
Do you have OBD reader? before going there, i'd check error, because if it's not sensor - you will pay for diagnostic + fix.
But, just in case, i'd remove wire from fuse and will hide it under fog switch.
Also, if it's not urgent for you, i can check errors for you a little bit later, since my car is still in garage, without even rims ^_^

I'll take it to Park Avenue Acura aka Acura Brossard. I don't have a reader and if it's not the sensor, I'd have to pay 115$ only for diagnostic.
So where in Montreal are you? U might have guessed it, I'm in the south shore. It would be nice meet up n check out our rides. What's wrong wit ur TL?

Did u recieved a letter about a recal for an inspection that has to do something with the transmission? I called but they didn't even explain me properly what was it for.

Take it to the dealer. Unless they discover YOU taped into something you shouldnt have they arent going to know or suspect anything. Just dont go opening your mouth telling them you were modding your car.

It's too late for that as I've already mentioned the SRS to the service guy when I booked for the recall. But even then, I doubt the mechanic would have checked it quickly.
I'll play safe n take off my mod wires for the time it's in service.

if acura 800 (they send the recall notes by snail-if you recently registered its catching up to the last known owner!)
If it says you have a recall -get to the dealer- they ck your VIN and confirm if done
there is an old one (2004) for install of external oil jet kit for 2nd gear spraying on transmission,
when they do that it includes a boroscope exam for certain heat damage- if seen, you get a free warranty trans!!!!
If ok they add the external jet kit and send you on your way
Tech only knows whats on the work order
Person who booked your appt is often not the service writer you deal with~
the diagnostic fee is a legal issue, required by the law of each state
it gives the shop permission to have your car apart if police come looking for a chop shop - every car in the shop must have a work order or its considered stolen
It also protects dealer (or any shop with same policy) of finding some problem for you- then you want to go to joe cheapo down the street and tell them whats wrong with it.
At least they can charge for the techs time in diagnosing since they lost the bigger job- thats fair-
usual stated charge is 1-1.5 hours
WHEN its determined to be warranty item they write a new invoice for Warranty- warranty pays the diagnosis and provides loaner car when possible, you get car back happy and SRS or whatever fixed
