SRS problem...help!

The SRS light came on couple weeks ago. I took it to the dealer for fixing. The problem was broken sensor at passenger side, and replacement would cause more than $600! My warranty already ran out. What should I do? Anyone of you have the same situation before?

I'm going to check because if I'm not mistaking, the SRS system on the cars is covered longer than the regular warranty. I'M NOT 100% SURE, but I'm going to find out.

Thanks, dude. Ya, I notice that TSX has 100,000 miles on airbag warranty. Andyway, I just got my car back, without fixing... But I notice the SRS light was off now. Is that right? I mean, if the sensor is broken like the dealer said, the light should still be ON, right??? Is he trying to rob me or I am just paranoid?

I had the same problem a month ago at 65K miles on my 2000 TL; dealer replaced the sensor for free as "good will". Guess I was just lucky (It was the passenger side OPD sensor too $$$).

When I bought my 2000 TL-P a few months ago, it had the same problem. The dealer had my car for about 4 days because they said they would have to pull the passenger seat apart (as in, undo the leather stitching in the seat) and needed some 3rd party leather guy to do it. Once I got it back, it's as good as new and the seat's totally fine (ie, the leather guy knew his stuff). Since it was all under warranty, I didn’t get to see the invoice of the repair – but $600 would sound about right…..
