SRS Light On

Having some stereo work done on my car. The installer said the SRS light came on today. He had unbolted the passenger seat but didn't remove it and noticed it came on then. He said he didn't unplug anything from it at all.

I also had an Alarm installed at the same time.

Any ideas why the SRS light could have come on? Or how to turn it off?

The srs system is the airbag system. It checks weight on the passenger seat. If i have somebody in my car and they are leaning against the door real hard, i get a light that says "passenger side airbag disabled" or something like that. It senses the position of the passenger and turns the srs stuff off. This is probably what that light is. Once he bolts the seat back in, it will probably go away.

do a search for SRS RESET, you can reset it yourself so long as theres nothing wrong with it, if it comes on again after then you should take it to the dealer.

2 completely differnt lights and and meanings on why they came on. Most likely its on due to the seat removal with the battery still connected.

do a search for srs reset and you will find the instructions on how to reset it. If it wont, either the seat is still unhooked somewhere, or the alarm people did something.

Thanks. Yeah I Did a search for SRS and came across the SYS reset. I sent it over to them. They still have my car as I'm having my radio face redone and a few other things installed for the stereo still.

I hope they didn't screw anything up to make the light stay on. Hopefully the reset works. I hate to have to have acura look at it.

Does Acura usually help on these things right away? or do I have to make a stupid appointment and plan on leaving my car there all day?

Acura will charge you to look at it and fix it if it isnt a waranty related issue. And since you were having work done on the car id be willing to bet it isnt warranty related

Thanks for the help. I had sent the info over in an email to my installer and he was able to shut off the light no problems.
