Unhappy SRS Light

I decided to take advantage of the early spring weather and do a spring cleaning. I took out both seats and shampooed the carpets. I replaced the seats, thinking I reconnected all the connections under the seats. After starting the car, i noticed the SRS light was staying on. I looked under the passenger seat and one of the connections had come out. I reconnected it but the SRS light is still on.

Does anyone know if this is something that has to be reset or do you think something is still not connected/wrong?

Thanks

Disconnect your battery for a few minutes..then re-attach and if the problem is still there, go see your dealer.

try to do a search on the srs light. there was a thread on this subject and people seem to think that the srs light comes on pretty easily and that the sensors are the culprit. some folks took the car to the dealership and got it fixed because of the lifetime warranty on the seatbelts.

let us know if disconnecting the battery works...

I dont know if disconnecting the battery will clear the SRS indication (which in your case was sensed by the connector being unplugged while the car was on.) There is a two pin yellow connector under the dash thats plugged into a dummy socket on the back side of driver's side fuse panel. You can reset the SRS system with a paperclip but you have to do this in a particular sequence along with toggling on the ignition. I have the Helms (Acura OEM) service manual and if you need to clear the indication I will dust it off and give you the instructions.

I know about the seatbelt sensor defect because my car had it and it is replaced under lifetime warranty but i dont think that is what you SRS system is trying to tell you given the facts.

disconnecting the battery will *not* clear the SRS (or at least i should say it did not on my TL) but here is the procedure that was posted not too long ago to do it yourself thanks to NighthawkBlack. it is very easy and shouldnt take you more than a minute. the first time you might not get it because of the timing, but the second time should be no problem. one suggestion though is when you use the paperclip to jumper the connector, leave one end connected and only move one end in/out as the procedure dictates. its much easier this way. good luck!
