SRS Gamble
My SRS light went on and is staying on, and my dealer says they'll cover it under warranty if it's the OBDS new warranty issue. HOWEVER, it it's not that, they'll charge me a 100$ diagnostic fee, plus I guess whatever else is involved to get it fixed.
Is there any way for my to make sure it's the OBDS before I make this gamble? For those of you that have had the SRS light stay on, has it always been the OBDS?
Also, should I try resetting the light? If it's the OBDS, how long will it take before the light goes back on? I have an appointment for next week at Acura.
Thank you

Go to any Autozone and have them read the code for you for free. Then cross reference it. You can buy a code reader from any autoparts store, but its not worth it. Basically, there's a port under the dash that you plug the reader in, and the reader will give you the error codes the computer sees.
Personally, I'd get the SRS fixed just cuz its a safety feature, and you don't want the airbags blowing while driving or not blowing at all.

Do a search. Many sites have instructions on to short out pins in the diagnostic connector to activate the SRS trouble code blinking sequence. Then count the blinks to assemble the trouble code(s).

I talked to Acura service guy on the phone, and he said that there are 4 things that could make the SRS light go on, and 2 of them are covered under the extended warranty, while the other two are not.
Does anyone know what he is talking about? Thanks

Guys, would anyone know the answer to my above question? I want to be prepared for what may be an arguement if they say something that's not covered under the extended warranty is causing the SRS light to go on.

Well, the results are in and they are inconclusive. They reset the light, road tested the car, and the light did not go back on (yet). So, don't know if something is wrong or it's cell phone interference related.
The good news is Precision Acura in Princeton are not going to charge me the 100$ fee. Don't know why the guy decided to be charitable but I'm pretty happy about this.

there is a recent thread with the SRS reset in it (do a search for srs reset and my name) and you will find the link. Reset it, and if it doesnt go off or it comes back on bring it in to get repaired

My SRS light came on too. Called the dealer and they had me bring it in right away and gave me a 06 TSX loaner with 2000 miles on it.
They did say they would charge me $105 to fix IF the problem was not the OBDS new warranty issue. I did not have much choice, so I said okay.
The problem turned out to be a sensor in the seatbelt. They have a LIFETIME WARRANTY, so NO CHARGE!!!
Hope this helps and the rest of you with this problem get lucky too.
