squeaky steering wheel!!!

The other day, the steering wheel in my 02 tl-s started sqeaking. Anybody experience the same thing? How did you fix it?

Whenever I'm driving & move the wheel off center, it makes a plasticy squeak that's driving me nuts!

Either something started rubbing, or there's a sadistic mouse in my steerinig column!

I have the same damn problem... told the dealer and they told me that was a normal thing, they even said that they tested another car and it had the same sound... mine is not a really loud noise though, its just a small scratching noise when turning the wheels.

If your in a cold climate I bet the sound will go away when it gets warm out. That's not to say it won't come back next winter....

I bent back the plastic pieces behind the wheel, and voila-no problem.

Are you referring to the cover on the interior behind the steering wheel? Just take it off...fiddle around with it and put it back on. reason asking...I too now have a faint squeak. Not to loud but it most definitely bothers me? You took it apart by just unscrewing the underside off it I assume?
Thanks for the help.

Hey I'm about to do the same thing as I too have a faint squeak. What do you mean, "bent back"

Ive noticed that in the winter time, things shrink because of cold weather (allows for rattles since there is space in between things) but once summer comes everything expands a bit and less squeeking (no space in between since things are expanded and tight fitting)
