Spare Tire misplacement...
OK, don't flame me as I know that I have been doing my fair share of whining lately... BUT why is the spare tire stowed away upside down so that you aren't able to check its air pressure? Seems really stupid to me. 60psi is really hard to maintain and I'm sure the general public will never check it especially when you have to yank it out to do so
I like to check my tires every week or so and also check the spare every month or so. All I need is a flat only to find out that the kiddie spare is only at 30psi. I guess you could store crap in the backside of the rim, but what's the deal? Is Acura too cheap to provide a longer bolt so that you can turn it rightside up? Or is there a GOOD explanation similar to why the seats don't fold down? Keep the heavier part of the rim nearer the ground? It just seems like a very poor design oversight to me... but what do I know...

You could do what I'm going to do...it'll make your life a lot simpler...remove the spare completely and replace it with car audio equipment! There's nothing like a good set of subs to make you feel better when you blow a tire on the highway and have to wait for a tow!![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Just remember, removing the spare weakens the auto in a rear end collision. The spare in 99% of all autos made today is placed in the trunk to reinforce the structure of the rear.
Placing it with the rim side down is just a way to maximize the strength, and in most cases, you shouldnt need to check the spare's pressure more than once a year.

I have a lexus spare tire. They have full spare. My friend replace his with a system like Austin.

On the TL-S, can you replace the wimpy spare with a full-size rim/tire? Is there enough room?
