I've had my '02 TLS since Nov.
I love the way it drives and the heads it turns :-)
Anyway, coming home from a friends house at about 12:30 am, I get my first race and kill in my TL.
There is one stretch of road on the way home that passes through a residential area and the speed limit is 25. After a light at an intersection, the road opens up and deserted and the limit bumps up to 45.
Anyway, its 2 lanes each way, and while I was in the 25 MPH zone, I was going at the same speed as this Civic driven by an old lady in the left lane (I was in the right). Before I know it, I have these headlights up my ass. I didnt even see this guy come down the street. he cant go anywhere because I was side by side with the civic and we are both doing 25 down the street. The guy is right up my ass.
I can tell by the head lights it is a camarro with the square-ish headlights. When we pass the sign aloowing 45 mph, I gun it quick as to get past the civic and allow this guy to get off my ass. So he pulls into the left lane and gets up beside me. Doesnt pass me (im doing 45) he just pulls up and we are window to window. I see his blonde bimbo in the pax seat looking at me and grinning, having a laugh. I couldnt believe I was being taunted to race - never done it before. I slow down, he does too. I get on the gas, he does too. And we are still doing 45.
So I slap it into SS, down to 3rd and was OUT! I could hear he was on the gas at about the same time too. He was 2, then 3, then 4 car lengths behind me. We approach a turn, not a hairpin, but a steep, long right turn in which the limit is 35. I look down and hit it at 85!! And the car just bit that turn and responded to the steering with ease! I could hear my tires squeek, but I remember hearing his scream as he approached the turn behind me!
By then he was 4 car lengths behind and I slowed down to 45, where he stayed behind me about 2 car lengths until my turn to go home. I dont know what kind of Camarro it was, other than red. I never saw much more of it than the door and hood and his head lights in my rear-view mirror.
I betchya that blonde wishes she was in my car instead. ;-)

I was very proud of my TL when I said goodnight to it in the garage. A wolf in sheeps clothing!

Most likely a V6 because even an LT1 would beat a TL-S. Good race, but be safe. I don't race around corners just because there are too many variables. But if you know the area well enough, I guess it doesn't matter.

hey hey now. i love my acura, but i wouldn't say that American cars blow. as mentioned, an LS1, Cobra, Grand National, Viper, Z06, GTO, srt4, Hemi or other American cars could trash us at almost any time. They may not have the class, but they can hang. we must'nt get too cocky. i made that mistake with a modded Powerstroke diesel F250 once. i lost.

heh...well I hate it when American car owners hate on us "imports". OK, I promise to not stoop down to their level and say their cars blow. Yeah they might have big, loud engines, but I still think they are ugly IMPORTS

 

American cars may do their job well, BUT lets see how they run at 100,000 miles!! Thats if they're even still around!!! LMAO

Hello...your comparing to 300-500 HP cars with our TL's with are between 225HP to 270HP....
When you see 300-500 HP TL's...then that'll be fair.

 

yes, but they're still american cars. that's my point. so you can't just say american cars blow compared to the tl. some can still kick our ass. if this was an NSX forum and we said that, then i would sooner agree. see my point? and don't forget, the srt4 is only 230hp.

 

good kill fam ATTENTION ALL HATERS: TL's ARE COMING THROUGH lol so far i killed 2 hooked up civics, a hooked up gsr, and this kid tried to race me in a old as chevy caprice lollllll, and i made a kill on a 350Z hard to believe but i did it i guess he aint kno how to drive wat do u guys think?????
