i was thinkin bout doin that but i read in the 3gen forums, theres this bolt behind the fiber/plastic stuff that lines the trunk near the pass through. and the factory sub is grounded there so im just put mine there too. its attached to the body, need a 10mm socket to get it off.

Factory Unit w/ low end converter

When using the factory headunit and speakers with a low end converter for the sub, it does sound okay. The bass output will be decreased about 15 percent, nothing noticeable, unless you are into DEEP pounding bass. If thats what you want, i would say its okay for the time being. Make sure you tune your factory unit. Also having a 10 inch sub, you will find it has cleaner tighter bass, but since you have your stock headunit running it, it will sound just a little bit softer than with an aftermarket headunit. I had the same kinda setup, but decided to go all out on mines. pm me or reply if you have questions.

as far as tuning i meant your lows, mids, and highs in the stock headunit..makes a big difference. And secondly, No it wont. If you run an aftermarket amp and sub, they will disconnect the old 8 inch bose sub. Removing it would be best as for airflow and what not. But i just open the middle fold down hatch in the backseat, same thing IMO.

i got a 12" alpine type-r sub and an mtx thunder amp that i wanna hookup to my car. i read this whole thread about the LOC and everything but the only thing is the person i bought the car from had a system in it that he took out before he sold it and i guess he took the bose sub out to get the bass to flow into the car. he took out everything from his system and now i have no bose sub and needa get this sub and amp in for some bass. how do i install these without a factory bose sub?

You don't need the bose sub in order to run your system. the l.o.c is for the factory unit so it knows to convert the lows for the amp to process out to the sub. damn bose systems, they make them to be ran with only the factory unit. I suggest aftermarket headunit. That would make your life better, but why stop there upgrade your speakers too. Hehe.

Question Basslink

I just ordered a basslink for my TL 2006. How hard is it to put in? Really have to run wires from engine compartment or have to remove back seats? Doing or removing less is better for me. Get a LOC and splice to sub? Just want to make sure I'm doing things right. I need some advice to know exactly what to do. Thanks.
